Can anyone identify the cultivar of these raspberries?

I am planning on starting a raspberry and blackberry trellis (?2x 60' long?) this fall here in Bethel NY. I have been reading up a lot

on cultivars, how to plant, and prune. I have picked about 4 cultivars that I want to try. A friend of mine has a patch of raspberries

that would be free to transplant to save me some money, although I am a little afraid to take them from a home garden due to the possibility of disease.

They are fruiting now, and will fruit until frost here in zone 5-6. I assume they are an erect primocane fruiting veriety, and my guess is

that they are Heritage plants. Can anyone tell from these pictures what kind they are?

You can narrow down a raspberry's variety by it's characteristics (primocane/floricane, thorns, fruit color, fruit size), but beyond that, it gets very difficult to determine their exact variety. Looking at those characteristics and due to the commonness of Heritage though, I'd say they could very well be that.

I'd give it about 5 to 1 that it's Heritage- the easiest to grow raspberry in the northeast IME. It is by far the most common raspberry sold in nurseries around here and many of the other primocain bearers would probably be done before frost most years.

darlene4022 I still haven't found out the cultivar but I did can some last night and they turned out great, so they can be redeemed to something people can eat. I used the Blue Book Ball canning recipe for brandied pears but first cooked them in apple juice until soft then I followed the recipe as written with the addition of a cinnamon stick. I tried it today and they are out of this world good so I will have Christmas gifts for this year. Northwoodswis4 yes I would love to learn how to graft, I have to study up on the art of grafting then take a stab at it, can you graft nectarine branches on the pear tree? I need to find out when grafting is done ect. Thanks :o)Deanna

It looks a lot like one of mine in Utah that may be Harvest Moon. Another member, Aquawise, has a great website with one just like this one. Mine grows well also - I just wish it was a prettier color.... Below is an older post about this old brown iris with her website link about it.
