I was asking questions about canning these pears on the harvest forum and the question arose if they were asian pears I had always thought they were bartlet but now I am questioning myself. they process differently thats why I need to know for sure. When I did a google search I found a cultivar named nashi that fits the bill to some degree, I will give a discripion of the pear, round, never gets the elongated pear shape, stays bright green only gets slightly yellow when it rots, very very very firm flesh takes forever to cook soft enough to eat, the flesh is very juicy not too sweet ever, and just a hint of pear flavor. The seeds are white not like the dark color of the asian pear pictures on the internet. The tree itself was not grafted on to any root stock I live in an area that gets about 650 chill hours and the tree never has failed to set fruit even though I always threw the fruit away as its kinda tastless and so hard. Any help will be appreciated. :o)Deanna
