Nancy, I hate it that you lost your OC. That one was a first bloom I think. I am sure I have more on Photobucket..OC isn't too expensive now so maybe you could get her again or maybe you could trade for her..that's kinda what I did. Well, actually, I didn't..A couple of years ago I posted a "daylilies for postage" when I was so cluttered and Linda wanted some. She paid the postage and I sent her several. This was her payback, I think. She sent me a couple more too and some seeds and some coneflower seeds.. Chris, check out the " 2 wins" I just posted. Unfortunately, the root rot probably came from the grower, not from anything you did or didn't do. It's not uncommon for strawberry fields to experience high loss if they become infected and the starter plants can be sold off before the infection is obvious. If you still have the plants, take one to your extension agent and ask that it be sent for diagnosis by your state university. It's possible that the grower might make good your cost of these plants if they had a crop loss and you can prove where you bought them. Sterilize the pots before growing anything else in them by soaking in 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. The pathogen is fairly tough and could possibly contaminate whatever you plant in them in the future. Sorry the Master Gardener didn't get a diagnosis for you. In VA we're trained to do whatever is necessary to find the problem, including sending plants off for lab tests at VA Tech if we can't figure it out. Thank you both. Andrea, yes I enjoy bringing roses indoors, and these are so fragrant, it doubles the enjoyment! The color is similar to Hot Princess. The half open blooms are similar to a hybrid tea. I thought they were gorgeous last year, but they are even lovelier on a more mature bush, this is the third season for them.

I too went into Walmart this morning to take a look and was very pleased to see they didn't have anything I want. I can't bring another single rose home this year. I bought both Oklahoma and Pascali last year at Lowes. Oklahoma is doing great but Pascali is struggling. If I remember correctly it did well the end of the summer last year when it was so hot and dry so I'm hopeful with all the rain we've had she has gotten too wet. Pascali does have beautiful blooms and Oklahoma smells heavenly.
