Wow! I had a great shopping day!

I found so many great things today!

First at Goodwill - A twin size headboard. It looks like a fence, but is really heavy wood and it has a heart in the middle. I almost couldn't fit it into my car, but with both front seats down it just fit. It was $14.99!!

Then at another store I found a huge 12 inch, round white glass light fixture thingy. It's the glass that goes over a light bulb. I put it in my garden for a gazing ball. It was 75 cents!

Then I found a real glow in the dark gazing ball - 10 inches- for $16.99. (sad, it cost more than my headboard!)

Glad you had a good day!! The headboard sounds great!! Don't think I've ever seen a "glow -in-the-dark gazing ball, sounds interesting!! The glass was a steal for 75 cents ! Have fun making them into Garden treasures!! Post pics!! Jan

You DID have a good shopping day! I have some serious headboard envy. LOL. Rarely see them in my GW, and when I do they aren't what I want and cost too much anyway. I keep hoping tho. Please do post pictures of your treasures when you can.

now hubby and I sit out there every night with our coffee, staring FOREVER at this thing so as not to miss it, lol. Pam, it sounds like you have a very exciting life, lol! Actually, it sounds very relaxing, especially if accompanied by an adult beverage. ;) Just googled O. triloba and WOW, really pretty flowers, but boy is that foliage weedy-looking. I started O. macrocarpa from seed several years ago and have mature plants now. The flowers bloom in the spring and look similar, probably larger, and quite lovely. But again the foliage is a little weedy and looks ratty now. And do I dare start O. speciosa from seed? Gorgeous flowers, but supposed to be a rampant spreader.

I think my migraines are directly related to low humidity or bright sunlight. It sounds strange, but our winter sun is very, very bright with a lot of glare. I've also been working on the computer way too much. I told my husband today that I need those big sunglasses that wrap completely around and don't allow one spec of sunlight in during the winter. Of course, it's winter and I can't always be outside, so I'm always looking out into the bright sunlight or sitting on the front porch when the solar kicks the temps up. The only time that I've had ocular migraines (loss of vision) is with sun reflecting off the snow. Scary. Temporary, but scary. I was once driving and had to pull off the road for about 20 minutes until I could see again. I'm always immediately checked for stroke after one of those -- my doctor tells me to always come in to double-check that it is indeed an ocular migraine. Sorry -- long.

Oh Karen, thanks for sharing that more intimate part about how you and Karen "met" on line. It is so great that you finally got to meet face to face. I'm sure it DID feel like you had already known each other for years. It is terrific to find a friend who shares a lot of the same interests...which of course, is why we all love this forum! Luvs, the "treasures" you have shown so far are wonderful (especially love the retriever pulling the sleigh!). And I'm sure they really will be TREASURES when you look at them and remember the day you spent with Karen. How sweet! Will wait patiently for when you get back home and can post your other finds. DD

Msmarion, what an uplifting day you had! Finding that tape from a church in your hometown is weird. An omen I think, of further good things to come. You deserve some breaks, I am pleased that you got some.

I only have a pic of it at night ~ it was white, but I painted it green.

Today I also found a FREE sink/laundry tub. I plan to use it outside to wash veggies off in before I bring them inside.
