June POTM Done - Maybe

I am happy to say I finally achieved working on a POTM. Here is my found sea chest with the plants in it. It was so simple to do and yet so hard for me to get in gear and do it. For now they are in their original planters as I've not yet decided whether to put dirt into the chest and plant them right in it, or to leave it as it is and I can take the chest inside for the winter months.

Great job on that!!! I have an old trunk I was going to do that too also but Its still in the barn(-: I guess I won't get it done this year.

Thanks everyone! Kudzo - Do you mean the vine behind the bench on the trellis? That's an Akiba quinata (or something like that), chocolate vine. The flowers are supposed to smell like chocolate and I'm waiting for it to flower to see if that's true. Katladie - I'm in a little town in Victoria. Toowoomba is kinda far away. hehe Luvs - those names are GREAT!!! I especially love Dragon's Drive. You have me trying to figure out how I can add another path to the garden so I can use that name! HA! I may also now have to make a path to the garden so I can have an Excalibur Expressway! I am thinking of putting in a little pond in so I can have the Lady of the Lake! HA!! The fun never ends! cs758, I love your little bench. As an amateur woodworker who just came into possession of a stack of scrap lumber, I would love to see the dimensions on the plain bench too. I've been looking for a simple bench, and all I can find are the fancy ones.

bright: Yes, I have to admit I have a boot birdhouse in the garden (forget what I did with its partner?) I took a red pair (that I got at two seperate trips to a TS) and made a birdhouse and a lamp for my bedroom (packed right now). Sheri I will post my old boot birdhouse (really a spiderhouse for GSs). I drilled a hole with a hole drill. Screwed in a roost under hole. I used flashing for roof (I have seen old license plates used) and decorated it with a nail punch design. Use a piece of wire in the boot straps to hold it up. I see the toe is curled from weather. If you search the internet you will find pics and directions even. June

That looks cute :) I'd keep the plants in containers so the trunk will stay nice.

I agree, great job & great chest. I don't think I could leave that outside.

I love it!!! Maybe line it with plastic and keep the plants in pots. I would use it outside for the summer.

Hi Sal, It looks great. If you leave the flowers in the pots maybe you could add some of that sheat moss in the gaps. What a great treasure you found.

What a great trunk! What a great display! I love what you did! You are always creating great projects! I don't know...there's still half of June left...you may have to finish a few more projects for the June POTM! Hee hee! Thank you for always inspiring me! After reading Twomonths' post to bring the chest inside and having neighbors and a friend tell me to do the same thing, I have unloaded the plants and brought it back inside. I think I'll use it for storing sewing fabric. Oh well, here I go again, now I have to go finish something else that's not been done either. I do appreciate all the great comments on this display though. Wish I had a covered porch, I'd keep it out then. Now I'm really ticked off at myself for throwing out that older, way rusted out chest cause I thought it looked too bad. That would have been perfect and I wouldn't have minded watering the plants and it getting worse. Now I've got more curb shopping to do, yippee!

That was sooo pretty, but don't blame you for bringing it inside. The little bluebird addition was darling.
LOL, I think maybe you just had the first "disappearing POTM" on this forum.

You could have kept it on a covered porch for the season with artificial plants maybe?
