I just posted this over at the KT forum and thought gee I should have posted this here!! SO here are many photos of why I have not been on the forums lately! Enjoy :)

We had a very late spring and thus I have been late in getting the gardens and ponds going. I finally have things up and "growing" and thought I would share some photos so you can see why I haven't been around the table much. Many photos....but I hope you enjoy seeing them.

Mings bench survived winter and I planted a pot for it. He lived just under 21yrs and we still miss him terribly.

The dresser had a hard winter, probably the last time I will plant this one but I have stand bys!

Last fall I collect chestnuts and planted them, 13 trees came this spring and I am giving them away. This is the flower they will produce when full grown.

This is a golden chain tree in bloom, I waited a very long time for it to bloom.

Alicia - yes the flower is phlox - before we redid the stream it was along the entire length - I want to do more of a variety of plants along the rocks - so that something is always in bloom I forgot about the flat rocks around the pond - ordered them back when the pond was first put in in 1999 - they were along the stream bed too and I just didn't like the look and when these other rocks were found back in the woods - I changed them out for a more natural, native look Thank you everyone - we are having a ball working/playing out there....... Luvs: Yes, they are peonies. One of my favorites. Currently there are 10 of them in light pink, dark pink , the almost red and white. The ants drive me batty but they must be there to make the flower "work" so I try to overlook them. I've been collecting the irises for a number of years and brought them along when we moved here. So far I have a midnight purple (black), lavender, purple, white , yellow , yellow/brown combo, pink/mauve combo,peach, salmon pink, and a blue one out there somewhere that I recieved from a gardening neighbor last year but it has yet to bloom and I don't remember where I put it. *sigh*. Hostas are another biggie for me (25) of them so far. Dahlias , daylilies, tiger lilies , yuccas and cannas are my other weaknesses. Never found one I wouldn't plant. LOL

Thanks for all the lovely comments and responses. I'm so glad you enjoyed the "tour". I am just coming in from the gardens now as the fog is rolling in. I basically live out there in the summer months, I just love it. I really don't see it as work, it is just another hobby. Almost all the plants are perenials and so every so often they get divided and I give them away. All the art gets put out in the spring and put away again for the winter, so I guess that's work, and yes I do all the art work. I have had the original upper pond for about 19 years and the bigger pond for about 5yrs I think. Once they are set up they are really easy to care for and an endless source of enjoyment. I'm glad you had time to let us know how you are with as busy as it sounds like you've been.... I hope you enjoyed some lunch and had a little rest. Please pamper your back as best you can, you don't want that crick to turn into something more. It's been that kind of week here too. Not vegetable gardening but our wet cool spring has slowed down my own outside work. Now the family that lives in the house below us is having graduation party Sunday for their high achiever son. The hill (mine) leading down to their house and visible from their drive has been wild with weeds, winter debris and I'm trying to get it in shape before their guests. I hope some of these shrubs and ground cover take hold before too many more years, I don't know how much longer I'm going to want to be climbing around on it like a goat ;0) - very steep. I'm jealous of your asparagus. I looked at it at the grocery store this afternoon and it could have been fresher this week for $2.99/lb. I didn't buy any today even though DH had said how much he enjoyed what we'd had a few days ago.

Wow, you HAVE been busy! I enjoyed all of your photos. I think my fav is the bench w/ the painting of your cat. So sorry you lost your baby, pets are so special. All of your blooms were beautiful I love the old dresser!! Do ya hafta retire it or can you just repair?? I know you have replacements but it just looks so cool! You have done a great job and "WELCOME BACK!" blessings-sherri

I love all of your treasures!!! That painted bench is beautiful!!! So are all the flowers... What an awsome camera you have. I think it would be hard to part with the dresser..love it's patina. Thanks for sharing your wonderful gardens.

I love all your stuff! Thanks for showing your golden chain tree. I planted one three years ago and am about ready to dig it up because it is just not growing fast enough for me and of course it hasn't bloomed yet, but seeing yours makes me think I shouldn't be so hasty. My Kousa dogwood finally bloomed after 5 years, so why not hang out and wait for this one to bloom to...LOL.

adina72...I waited a long time for my tree to bloom and finally I decided to "shock it" a few years back, since then the blossoms have increased each year and this year was really wonderful! To shock it just take a shovel and dig straight down about 18" - 24" away from the trunk all the way around the tree. Do not lift up the dirt at all. It worked for me so you might want to give it a try, they really are a magnificant tree.
The fog has rolled in now so no more gardening togay I guess. Thanks again everyone.

Wow, your garden area is just beautiful, all over. I am really impressed, I wish I had a big yard like that. Thanks so much for sharing the great pics, love the close-ups.

Incredible photos, those close-ups especially. Your yard is wonderful and I could hang out there for a day or twenty.
Your dear Ming's bench is so beautiful, and a wonderful tribute to a special cat.

Gourgeous! Simply gourgeous!
We lost our Leon who was over 20, a year ago last fall. I still miss him so much. The largest Holly hock I've ever seen is growing on his grave this year, which is pretty neat. HOw lovely that you painted a bench to commemorage your Ming.
