Help!! Problem of my pear tree

I have these problem last year, then this year too.

My pear tree 5 in 1 is 5 years old. Starting bloom from last year, beautiful flowers, it grows into small fruit, a little bit large than pea size. Then, stop growing, A lot of them on the tree,

I am getting frustrated since last year, I search the web and did not find answer. I am afraid it will happen again next year.

Any suggestions?

Did they turn brown? Do you have a picture?
I suspect that if they are still green, maybe you got a flowering pear like a cleveland, aristocrat, or bradford pear. I hope not, but it's not the end. You could graft fruiting types on. Maybe I'm jumping the gun.

5 in 1, as in a cocktail fruit tree?

where is it planted?
how's the soil?
how much sun does it get?
how much and how often do you water?
how often do you fertilize?

how big is the tree.. and how small is the pot... and how long has it been in the pot??? .. is the media worn out ... i am guessing... the tree is incredibly stressed ... and subject to all kinds of problems ... and solving the individual problems.. will not overcome the stress .... and i just dont know if i would go slathering on all kinds of chemicals on a stressed tree ... Probably the most likely is scab since that is a common pear disease. I have seen apples with scab cracking like that so I expect pears could do it as well. The disease you name is not common (I have never heard of it) and so that lowers the odds a lot that you have it. Follow up to your own post to add pictures. If you get some error about re-posting just change the subject and it will go thru. Scott

That's hard to do..it's big and the roof is open to the elements...can't really protect it unless I cut it back and make it smaller. I might give up on it if it doesn't recover. As long as what it has is not contagious to other trees, I will give it this season to recover...of course now there's a huge rainstorm, so this will probably make it worse. BTW the unknown tree...that was id'd as a poplar..has poplar blight...looks just like the pictures...and goes along with the timing...I think I'll get rid of it because this will happen every year until it's over a certain height-once they have it they always get it. I looked at it this morning at every leaf is turning black. too much trouble.

Wendy, pears will drop unpollinated fruit- could that be a factor here?

If it is an ornamental pear as Noogy suggests then your five in one is probably mislabeled, and his suggestion of grafting onto it is worth considering. (If you've never grafted before this is a great opportunity to try it- pears are very user-friendly in this regard!)
