Growing Vegetables and Fruit Trees in Texas

Hello,

Up until this year, I was only an ornamental gardener. This year, I decided to take the plunge and delve into vegetable and fruit tree gardening.

I live in Central Texas where we get very intense sun for at least six months of the year. (Many plants that do well in other zone 8 areas fry where I live.) My backyard (100 x 100 ft) is west and mostly gets full sun all day long.--Trees grow all along the perimeter of the yard. I have recently (last 6 months) put in three raised beds--one for asparagus, one for blackberries and one for miscellaneous veggies. These beds do not get shade at all right now.

I've now purchased two pear trees and two persimmons and am trying to decide where to plant them since they will probably shade the raised beds at some point during the day.

My question to you is do I plant them east, west or south of the raised beds? (Can't plant them on the north side because I have a small shed in the way.)

Thank you in advance for any advice.
