I walked into a garden junker's dream today, see what I found

I hit the mother load on my way home from work. I went to this place to look at bikes to put in the garden and ended up being there for over an hour looking at stuff. The guy had lots of bikes, I didn't make a decision on one but found a few I liked. Instead I ended up with a bunch of other stuff, check out my goodies.

This is an old rusty birdbath, Im not sure what I'll do with it yet since I don't think it'll be good for the birds to put water or birdseed in it in the condition it's in right now.

This is a huge platter dish thing. It's made of wood so Im not sure how it'll weather, I initially thought it'd be a great birdbath.

I have been looking for a chandelier for my garden for a number of years now and I just never wanted to pay much for one, this one was the right price I just wish the one little flowery piece wasn't missing on the one arm.

And here's the rest of the stuff I got. The big pot in the background is part of it. Isn't the owl just a hoot hehe. All the iron pieces are fun, not sure what I'll do with them yet and the wood piece was a lamp, I thought maybe a globe base or birdbath base?

I got all of this for $6.00! I had to get it home and hide it in my potting shed so dh doesn't see it, he'd have a fit (he doesn't share the junking passion with me).

You sure got a lot for a little! Good scores. I really like the rusty old birdbath. I'd paint it up a pretty color and use it for a plant stand I think. My daughter had a small rusty one that I grabbed and used that Hammered Metal paint on. Love that stuff. LOL. She was shocked when she saw how neat it looked.
Your old chandelier is pretty cool too.

I don't usually post here but gotta say that's very pretty "junk"!

I can see that wood lamp base being part of a totem but I've got them on the brain again.

I can see for miles at this time of the year. Sometimes, just after a front comes through in summer, the humidity will be low enough to allow a day's glimpse of the Smoky Mountains, but winter here means drier air. We have the delight of seeing snow on the mountains for months before we get it here. And the mountains have such wonderful late afternoon shadows so that some of the foothills stand out when the rest of the time they are just part of the blue. My roses still bloom. And the blooms last and last and last. Some of the chinas are especially gutsy, acting as if they'll bloom up to Christmas. Miss Lowe's single red glows like a ruby and Old Blush may manage to have bloomed ten out of the twelve months of this year. The (not tea) Noisettes continue to chug along with enough blooms to remind me that they really are part China. Safranos are in their third fall bloom cycle; how I wish some of their late fall hips could hold on because the Daddy Pollen that's available now would make intersting offspring. One thing about being on the top of a hill. I don't have leaves to rake. Each cold front that blusters through gives enough winds to move my leaves off the hill top and into the hollows in all four directions. The deer don't come to the top of our hill. They do work the lower gardens and come into the back orchard. But centuries of hunters on this hill top and centuries of accumulated worked stones for working deer hides may have erected "stay away" imprints in all but the densest of deer brains. The predators are out too. Big raptors enjoying the critters that live in the grasses now that the grasses are beaten down by fall rains. The best nursery in town has some huge Camellias in bloom and I am in lust for a camellia that is winter hardy. So now it's time to make a home for a camellia if I can find a spot with the right soil and drainage. Or maybe more than one spot.

Hey, great! Never hesitate to ASK, too, about canning supplies. I started out in a big city in the middle of winter, and thought I would have to order jars on the Internet for sure. But I saw a BWB canner waaaay up on a high shelf in a corner at my small local hardware, and asked them about other supplies, and it turned out they had jars but stored them in the back room during the off season --- and they could easily order for me sizes they didn't have in stock, they came within a few days. Mind you, when I asked at my local "No Frills" grocer, the stock boys looked at me like I had two heads ("jars with NOTHING in them???"). OMG! I was having trouble posting asking if anyone remembered the Hypertufa forum, or wintersowing, or cement. I got so many good ideas on the GW forums. I have moved since the old GW days (still zone 7a), but I did a ton of FTF trades and USPS bare root trades. And, I feel the same about FB - I find it so intrusive. As for Houzz, I hired (and paid) and got ripped off by a contractor found through the site. I spent close to $1000 (last fall an emergency fix and then this spring, fixing it correctly. (The original job, a patio, cost several thousand dollars and he created a massive drainage problem). Then, I went to review him on the site to review contractors, but they are not easy to scroll thru and I do not have hours to look thru 1000s of their contractors.

The missing little flowery piece...

If it is close to the same size as the brass piece on an oil lamp you could snag that and paint it with a brown primer to make it look rusty like the rest. Or even cut a piece out of roof flashing. I cut that with old sissors. Then paint.

I'd like a chandelier to hang in the tree in my drive way circle.
the circle has three large pines and one tree around it...and in the front I have a section of fence with a flower garden in front. It's a nice sitting area...I have a swing,two park benches and room for more in there. It's my favorite place.

I love your stuff! I;d take the arms off and turn them upside down,and remove the "flower" part since one is missing,maybe replace it with some other things,or just leave them off. Then I'd use tea cups and saucers or punch cups and glue them on with silicone. Paint it first if you want, or leave it rusty :) Add chain and hang it in a tree with bird seed or candles. And I'd probably paint the bird bath and mosaic the bowl,lol! It would make a great planter. Someone made a planter out of one and put a little fairy statue in it, and I loved it.

Everyone has some great ideas! I can't wait to do something with all my goodies. I think I'll probably tackle the chandelier first. I plan to hang it from my arbor because under the arbor is an iron bistro set. I'll probably end up painting it, I should really paint the bistro set too.

I saw someone put tea cups on a chandelier and I really liked the look of that so I think I might try that and will probably take the "flowers" & light sockets off. I can use the "flowers" for something else then.

You certainly got some great stuff there. I love that chandelier and it's going to look awesome with the tea cups and saucers on the ends. Please post a pic after your done hanging it from the arbor, I'd love to see it.

I am getting ready to have to do that myself... because
I have a crack in the cement... and
I have NOT yet tackled the mosaic process ......

LOL, Susie, while you are skulking around in the bushes hiding bags and burying things, be careful a neighbor doesn't call the Cops to see how many bodies you might be hiding over there. LOL. Can't you just see them digging up the remains of your Tin Man! Or explaining why you had to bury the poor Pink Flamingo!

Great finds! You lucky girl you! I love that owl but then I like rusty critters. The birdbath was an awesome find. I think the wood lamp base would make a beautiful candle holder if painted. I can't wait to see what you do with your finds!

Oh I am pretty jealous!

I have been looking around for one of those round cone shaped light fixture things to make a wind chime with out of old silverware - not having much luck there. I saw one on this website and have wanted one ever since.

Ooo a windchime with the both of the metal pieces and old silverware is a great idea, I dind't even think of that one. I was thinking of finding a teapot to make on one but I could use those instead, thanks!
