Blackberries and Raspberries are difficult to root from tip cuttings. They are easy to propigate by tip layering or digging up root cuttings. If you want to propigate these plants, take a rock with you on your next walk and pull one of the canes down the ground and put a rock on top of it about 6 inches from the tip. When you go back in a few months, roots will have formed where it touched the ground and you can cut this daughter plant from the parent cane. If you look around the outside edge of the area where they are growing, you will probably find some canes that have already fallen on the ground and taken root. If they have just a few roots, that is normally enough to get them started off.

Ah I see, so they are similar to strawberries then?

What I'll try then is planting them in soil and see If I can keep them alive long enough to root the daughter plants, (I do have a few daughter like plants on the ends of some of the cuttings, especially the blackberries)

The only problem I've had rooting wild blackberry is mildew. A quick spray of immunox took care of that.

My experience with wild blackberry is that it roots extremely easily. That made it a bit of a pest in Oregon, because people will cut it out and the "trash" roots wherever it is thrown, starting another blackberry thicket.

I've never rooted raspberry, so don't know. It should not be too different than rooting blackberry.

Keep the cuttings moist. Either spritz with a spray bottle several times a day or else put some sort of cover over the cutting to keep the humidity high.
