Hi Cyber..are the white CC all white or do they have pink edges?
How about the yellow..are they yellow or gold? I've been looking for the pure yellow..I had 2 or 3 but the squirrels ate them..I saved what I could but haven't any idea if the yellows are left.
Gold are common but yellow is rare..My WM didn't get CC yet, (we stopped there Sat.)Good luck, Toni

The Home Depot in my area had a ton of them too, so I snatched up a few before they start their steady decline with them....lol. I got a pure white one, a dark red one, and a pink/salmon one called "Thor Zita". They were a steal at 3 dollars for a packed full 4 inch pot. I have not seen the pure yellow ones yet either but they sound really nice, I never even knew they had gold, do they sparkle like gold does? I think I would like that.

Toni, the white one I got does have the hot pink edges. I am hoping to find a pure white one. White flowers of any kind IMO are just so elegant. The yellowish one is hard to describe. It sort of has a pink undertone.It is not as yellow as Gold Charm.

nova, that was a good price. Lucky you! Sounds like they had a better variety too.Gold Charm is the yellowest one I've ever grown and it's never done well for me. I'll be checking Home Depot this weekend. Zone 3? Do you live in Canada?

Toni, you'll be finding some soon. What colors are you looking for? I like them all. They are my favorite holiday plant.

Cyber- do you live in Canada? I love your screen name! 'Cyberdancer' happens to be my most wanted CC at this time. LOL

I've heard that some Lowes and HD's on the West Coast had CC as early as 2 weeks ago! No such luck here on the East coast. I've been checking every weekend and nothing yet. I think they'll come within the 1st two weeks of November.

'Gold Charm' is a very good bloomer. Mine is budded up right now. I'm waiting with mucho anticipation for some blooms! I have a yellow Wal-mart cactus, but it pales in comparison to Gold Charm. Toni, you might try to find 'Sunset', as it is more yellow than Gold. Logee's sells it. LOL I know, I know......

Nova, I absolutely LOVE 'Thor Zita'- the color is almost indescribable. A mix of pink/salmon, as you said, is pretty accurate. It's such a soft, delicate, picture-perfect color, isn't it? I have one that's setting buds now. In fact, all but one of my CC are setting buds and they are all still outside!(Love this weather!) 'Thor Alise/Alice' is being quite stubborn this year for some reason. She was the first one to bloom last year, though. This year, 'Dark Marie' is going to bloom first. The buds are getting fatter and longer by the day!

You know a week ago, I had one Christmas cactus......a schlumbergera, now, not counting that one....I have 6 zygo's, I grabbed a couple more today that are white with a faint pink in them, really nice.....I found a new addiction....lol.

No, I do not live in Canada. FUNNY! I have always envied YOUR screen name. As a matter of fact that's where my name came from, from the xmas cactus. I was lucky enough to find it last year at a local flower shop, sadly it didn't make it. Gold Charm just never grew for me. It just sat there and did nothing. I wish you luck in finding Cyber Dancer. Search every where you can think of! LOL I know you will! I hope I find it again too. Happy hunting!

I was already telling my hubby tonight that we might have a problem here....lol. They are very pretty, and I really like the succullent-y foliage.....if that is what you call it. I have been reading a lot over at the epiforums, it is a really nice site as well, a lot of useful info. I am definitely on the hunt for a gold flowered zygo.....I saw one on the net, and yes it glittered....... there are a couple pics over on the epiforum in their bloom report, page 5 and 7, i believe.....and OMG they are beautiful! I have to find me some of those....lol

I was visiting in Westchester County last wknd & saw them in the supermarket (A&P) in the Mt. Kisco/Katonah area. Really some nice, intensely colored (vermillion), but I was there for groceries (& stuck to it!).

Haven't gone grocery shopping locally in 2 wks, I hadn't seen them, in my markets yet.

Late last yr. I bought a 2nd cc (think it was white), am hoping it'll bloom sometime this fall. Am eager to see if it'll be white or very pale of some color (have heard that can happen to the white ones, depending on the light they get).

hmle2217 yours looks exactly like the one I got. That's the one I call yellowish. The buds on mine are not developing any further, doesn't look like it's going to bloom. Hope yours is doing better.

dawnginn, so happy you shared yours too. Looks like maybe a red color and a white? Hope you post again when they open up. What size pot are they in? Just curious as to what the price was also, if you don't mind telling. Last year, at my local flower shop, (named ones) 6" pots were $15 and 8" hanging baskets were $30. I'm still waiting for them to arrive at HD and Lowes.

This weekend I found some at Trader Joes, 4" pot for $3.99. Finally found my white one and an orange one. Went back yesterday to see if they had gotten any different colors. They had none and was told their supplier was temporarily out of stock. BUMMERS!

cyberdancer, mine are in 4 inch pots. They were $4.25 each. They had 6 inch hanging baskets for $8.99. They also had a huge 12 inch hanging beauty full of buds for $29.99. It took everything I had not to buy it. I just have no room for something that big right now.
I do believe mine are red and white. They had no color tags. I will post more pictures when/if they bloom. I really hope they do.
That is sad your buds stopped developing. Maybe they just need time to adjust to their new home. I hope they come around and bloom for you.

OH!OH!OH! LOL Sorry, I just get so excited. Just call me crazy. Thinking of all the possibilities that might await me out there this weekend, hopefully. Ah yes, the proverbial space problem. I loose all my senses when I see a huge basket like that. At that moment It doesn't even enter my mind that I don't have any more space. I just have to buy it, telling myself (afterward) that surely I'll find a place for it. As you can see, I am totally addicted.

Found mine at the grocery store this weekend for 3.99 in 6" pots. I got a white and the other looks like it might be yellow I hope it is yellow. I really want a yellow. I have a pink/red that is getting ready to bloom.

Well, would you believe ( I couldn't believe it!) they wanted $7.99 for a 4" pot at Home Depot. That's a little outrageous in my opinion. They were not named and no unusual colors either. Last year they had 6" pots for $9.00. They had some gorgeous Cattleya Orchids, so I got that instead.

I am new to houseplants (and love this hobby). I have gotten my first ever christmas cactus's!! They were at our local "meijer" store......for 2.99 each.
Got a beautiful red one, I really love this color:)
A peachy colored one thats so cool, they only had one peach colored one and I grabbed it:)
And a darker pink colored one that has buds at the moment:)

How do you suggest to pot these later on, after flowering?
Do you have to make sure that the CC's in the pot are straight up, or do they naturally kinda fall to the side?
Whats a good soil mixture and type ofpot to use for these?

Help a newbie learn from all your wisdom and guidence:) I love GW and am here just about everyday for a few hours at least so I can read and learn ..........

It is best to wait 'til Spring for re-potting. No, the stems do not have to be straight. It's natural for them to lean over. If your plants are in 4" pots use a 6' pot when you re-pot. I usually buy three 4" pots and put all of them into an 8" hanging basket. It's easier to keep them watered (for me), plus you get a nice full plant. I use African Violet potting mix. I hope someone else responds with better advice. This is just what I do and I'm not saying it's right, but it works for me. You might try Googleing How to grow xmas cactus. That peach color sounds yummy. Are you able to post pictures?

greenhouser--well, that isn't any fun! Hopefully they will ship some your way soon. Did you buy any last year?

I really like these plants. My grandparents had one for a very long time. However, I've heard they can drop their rather fine needles? And that said needles penetrate skin quite easily? Do said needles penetrate skin easily?

I think you all are going about it all wrong.

You're suppose to wait and buy them after Christmas then you can get them for 99 cents each. :0)

All of mine from last year are setting buds. I think I'm going to keep a white one and give the rest away as gifts to make room for the after Christmas zygo sale at Wal-Mart.

I wouldn't pot them up larger in Spring at all, they likely won't need it. These plants have smallish roots to begin w/ & prefer to be tight in their pots (have heard tell they'll bloom better tight). Anyway, every few yrs. I change my mix for them, but I don't increase their pots size, never had to so far.

I'm guessing AV mix should be fine for them.

Dawn, how beautiful!!!..Oh I love your CC's..still, the Salmon is my favorite...That light pink is gorgeous too. How red is the red? I bought a red at Walmart last wk, but if you look close, the red 'almost' looks dark pink..but it's still red. LOL.
If you study your red, its buds look medium purple.
BTW, please rid the foil..I know the glittery color contrasts nicely against flower hues, but when you water, water will build up, and oh girl you'll have problems. Toni
