Hi, You can search on this website or go to google.com and search images for birdhouse and bird house. There are probably thousands of bird house pics. Assuming that you're building this yourself, just cut out the front of any house, attach a couple of sticks for the 'roof', add a hole and perch. I've also seen these in craft stores. You could buy and paint them. Big Lots may have them. A lot of people on this forum have probably made them and have good ideas for them. Linda

You might do a search for those particular magazines on eBay.

I guess I would write the publishers of Woman's Day and ask for their help in locating the article. They might photocopy it for you. I don't know if there are any libraries that archive the magazine, but you could make a couple of calls and see if the reference librarian can find a library. I guess if you don't know the exact date for it, they might not be so likely to want to help.

I see WD magazine has a forum.

It's a long shot, but you could try freecycle or craigslist or some wanted forum.

I'm like that, when I see something special, I want to find that exact thing if I can.

I agree with Linda. I would just take a piece of 1x6 or 1x8 depending on the width you want, cut the flat shape you want, and use 1x2 for a roof on some of them, dowels on some, and sticks on some. Paint them the colors you like. Use drawer knobs for a perch, on anything else you can think of.
Make window and door frames with popcicle sticks or twigs. You can tell I have more ideas than I have time to do.

Thank you ladies. Maybe I need to just forget the magazine and try and come up with my own ideas. I just remember these were SO cute and I wanted to make them in the future.

I have tried through Family Circle and Woman's Day, but they were not able to archive this for me. Since I don't have the name for the article, they probably think I am crazy when I try and describe this. :)

I saw it in my mind when I read your post. Did it have a bunch of white birdhouses on a yellow fence/wall on the front? I bet I have it in the garage in my files...but that is like saying find it on the computer in the next few minutes...I have stacks of saved things...instead of magazines. I did a search on 'birdhouse plaques' and wall birdhouses and Birdhouses to hang on wall and got a lot of pages. And boy did I find some I want to make. Like a TX flag one and an outhouse one and a victorian one. Try some of these links

I have some on my fence and need to repaint but will take a picture later and post. Anybirdhouse front would be a hint for you. Maybe a picture of your home blow up could be a pattern also.

At some local craft fairs in the last couple of years I have seen them take wallpaper border with birdhouses on it, glue it down to plywood, cut it out with a jig saw and the add a coat of varnish. Then they add a hanger on the back. They are real cute.

These are the flat ones. My GSs and I made them to cover up the knot holes in the old back fence..to keep them from peeking at the neighbors and vice versa. We got a new fence on the back so we kinda arranged them in 2 areas where the boys play and look for bugs and spiders. I see the church has lost his steeple and one or two really need to be repainted.
