I was looking for something else and found this blog devoted to garden art. It is mostly paintings of gardens featuring old cottages. BUT if you scroll down almost half way there is a video of the Chihuly glass art exhibit at the NY Botanical Garden. More scrolling and more Chihuly art, then almost at the end, a VERY VERY funny sculpture involving a gnome and an airplane. Well its a bit scarey actually. Check it out.

I absolutely love Dale Chihuly's work and have seen it Seattle and here at the Clinton Library Museum they have a giant piece. I used to want to own something by him, but I guess I'll have to settle for Frouhuly totems instead.

Thanks for posting this link. I spent a long while gazing at the cottage paintings and saving some of them to my computer. I love these, so calming.

Then I reached the Chihuly pond art! Wild! I wasn't familiar with his art. He surely brings that pond to life in a vibrant, rivetting way!

And then the airplane/gnome sculpture! What a hoot! I agree with you though, it's a bit scarey!

I was given one of these red plastic canvas cylinders with holes on the sides for 8 plants, typically strawberries. The first lesson I learned was the soil and sufficient water for the plants was incredibly heavy and that was only about 2cu ft in size. (64 lbs!) I then found that I could not hang it from any rafter sturdy enough to hold it because the planter would be in a lot of shade from the house itself. I ended up hooking three "Shepard's hook" plant holders and suspending it in the center. Then, it required watering two to three times a day and it washed out soil every time and almost washed out the plants. Strawberries only produced for about 2 weeks ): I wonder what kind of luck you had in getting something to work...

Thank you. It is a record and a piece of art. I will share a couple of the companion pieces when it rains( I am workin and gardening through the week. Not much play time). I keep a detailed harvest log, an activity and observations journal, and a photo collage of some of the harvests.

...oh no wait..you really need to look at his entire site...for full impact...WOW!

..who was it that was building a castle near their pond..well here this fella has a castle coming out of his pond...wow-wie..so cool..love it...Art is the best part of life...sigh!

Thanks So Cal, for the link to David Goode's other works. I think the airplane sculpture is the most disturbing, while his other garden renditions are tame enough to strike my fancy. The airplane gnomes wouldn't be residing in my garden! lol But any of his other creations are just whimsical, albeit in a dark humor sort of way, enough to attract me!

Cool website...love all the cottage pictures and the pond art...especially the one with the blue starburst sculpture and large glass ornaments! And the airplane/gnome sculpture is pretty funny.
