State of Wyoming help needed please

We might be moving to the state of Wyoming. I've got a few questions for anybody who lives in that state. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi halley rose. I see there were no answers to your question, so I was going to suggest that you might post on the WY gardening forum, and got to thinking, I wasn't sure I had ever seen one. So I went to look and there's no WY or CO or ND or SD or ID or some other colder states seperate gardening forums. I guess you might try a shout out at the Northern Gardening forum. Just a thought.

that thought just popped in my head, as I read the reply.

Loveangels I have the seed you requested, what do you have to trade me I dont see anything on your seed trade list to trade for the ones you wanted. Gracin, Hybrid musks will do well, so I'd say yes to Belinda, Buff Beauty and Prosperity. I'd guess also that any of the polyanthas will do well, so yes to Caldwell Pink, Marie Pavie and Mountain Mignonette. I'd think that Peggy Martin might do well; it seems to me to be a multiflora rose so probably will do well, but that's totally conjecture on my part. The teas and tea noisettes might have a harder time here because of the lower sun and heat conditions. If I were going to bet on one of them, I'd try the Monsieur Tillier. Jeannie, south of me in 7b, does grow a more teas than I do; maybe she'll see this and comment. I think her land is a lot sunnier than mine - so it kind of depends on the sun exposure of the garden. I have several teas, but they grow slowly here and have a lot more disease than mine did in the south. I don't have good luck with chinas here, but again Jeannie or others might have a different opinion of Old Blush's chances. I recently shovel pruned 'Spice' the Bermuda mystery rose. I've just started trying to grow some noisettes here so I don't know how they do yet for me. If the person likes that look, Natchitoches Noisette would be great one to try. It's sure a good rose in the south, isn't it? Tausendschon should be great here, as it's a hybrid multiflora. That leaves Belinda's Dream and Rosarium Uetersen. My personal opinion is that BD needs more sun than what we have here, but again, I think Jeannie grows it and it does well. I am not sure. I don't know about RU; I don't know anything about it. Chestnut Rose? - well, I don't know, but I'd send cuttings just to try if the person likes species roses. I hope your friend enjoys the cuttings, Gracin, whatever you send.

I've never lived there. Just passed through year after year going to So. Dak. Nice in summer, cold in winter. Usually stayed in Rawlins or Rock Springs, then up to Casper & stayed in Douglas, corner of Neb & up into So. Dak. DIL has sis in Gillette now & they like it. Used to have DH's cousin in Rock Springs & they liked it but of course raised in So. Dak. so used to cold weather but moved there from Costa Mesa so we didn't think they would like it but they did. In the area mentioned they had lot of strip mining for coal(I think) & had problems getting the hills looking good again as it is just as it says-strips everything bare. But they were working to replant with trees so that was 20 years ago so they should have filled in by now. It's hilly most of that route & green & saw lot of cattle & some horses. Have been in Cheyenne but don't remember anything about it. Not a lot of help but you could try Tourism in Wyo. & I'll bet they have some pics. Probably send you a packet of info. Good Luck!! Jan

I have lived in Wyoming so maybe I can help even though it's been a while. I did do some gardening there if your question is about that.

I see you live in Wisconsin so I think the main difference is that Wyoming is mostly colder, windier, and has a shorter summer.

Hello! I am a hardy Wyoming resident! Gardening can be a callenge here (especially where I live in the south eastern area) but it can be done!
