Finds from the Antique Mall

I went to my favorite antique mall the other day and found these goodies surprisingly. Actually the mini old well found several years ago, just had it stored in garage and sort of forgotten, so finally put it outside.

The three large fairy wall plaques came from Collections Etc. I finally decided to put them on the tree out by my gnome garden. The gnomes on other side of tree behind the asparagus fern.

The amber rooster bottle is going on top of the amber totem I plan to make soon as I can find some more pieces. Have just a few small ones to use right now. The little crystal rooster is in my kitchen window sill with some small lead crystal vases I've collected.

old toolbox that I want to paint Patriotic now after seeing the one on this forum yesterday. Small wood barrel has bottom rotted out but still like it.

Couldn't resist this handpainted birdhouse. I am going to cover the hole with a small mirror and use it for a Fairy House I think!

Floor candle holder, not sure if it'll stay in or go outside for GJ stuff. Might get painted another color. I have no idea what I'm doing with it yet.

Wow! What great stuff. I am jealous of your pink flamingo! I have a amber rooster..put concrete in it years ago to keep it from tipping over. Regret doin that. But I think the candle holder is my fav!!

Oh my gosh, I am so jealous over all that stuff you found. I've been looking for a toolbox for a while now since I saw one in Country Sampler that was set on a table with potted plants in it. Yours is so lovely, can I have it. I saw a few this past weekend in either antique shops or junk shops but they were just too pricey and they didn't look as gorgeous as yours.

Hi Purplemoon, I started replying to your having hard time on here yesterday & I suddenly was shut down & had to go off. They must have had trouble. I couldn't get on conversations for longest time!! Anyway the Antique Mall in Phoenix is almost same as ours out next to Saugus Swapmeet. "Country Antique Fair Mall" I love it!! It's been there for years & they keep it up so nicely.I always get some great stuff when I go! Antique stores on Ventura Blvd. used to be nice but have changed so much & are so expensive. But I'm like you don't go too often or I would spent a lot!!!DS got me 2 "dime" banks for xmas. I already had the Betsy Ross 1 it looks just like a spice tin except the top has the slit for your change. it held Betsy Ross tea originally. Jan

At one time my husband and I owned an Antique Mall. We thought it would be something we would enjoy when we retired. We had no idea it would be a 7 day a week job. We did it for 10 years then sold out. I now have a booth in another mall. It is perfect for me since I still love to collect. It is work, what you sell must be replaced. But it isn't all that time consuming since you don't have to be there. Don't expect to make a lot of money. I do make a small profit, and I shop as much for myself as I do for my booth. I think there are some who say, I've got all this stuff, I need to rent a booth and get rid of it. The thing you have to ask yourself is, once it starts selling are you willing to get out there and beat the bushes for more stuff to replace it. Also check around, find out where your friends like to shop for antiques, check out the rent and the sales commission. Some shops require that you work 1 day a week, some have restrictions on what you can have in your booth. All these things need to be considered. Betty

I love the ideas-and agree that having a flea market outdoors is great. This might be the ticket for keeping a certain level of quality in the mall itself. Lower-quality applicants can be made welcome in the flea market. avadoone's idea of a hot dog or bbq stand would definitely be a help-keep the hungry people on premises. Once people leave the premises the potential for selling to those people is lost, so keeping them on site is vital. That's why antiques fairs have vendors right inside. Your friend ought to sit with her attorney to discuss her liabilities and other legal stuff. She may have to meet a fire code. Probably hundreds of other things I haven't thought of and wouldn't know about. Wish her success from me.

Loved your album.I have a cobalt blue rooster that I havent decided what to do with.He is inside a china cupboard for now.

Wow!! Love them all but especially the toolbox and bucket. My kind of finds. The amber rooster would look good here with my plain glass one. Lol.

What beautiful, peaceful gardens. If I were there, I would have to stop and look at everything. Very inviting setting. What great finds! I love it all but am coveting your toolbox, barrel, and well...you know my fondness for wood! :o) Thanks so much for sharing your treasures! Kirk

I love all your new goodies!! How cool!!! We have an antique mall here in the poconos but because it's a "tourist" area...everything is VERY expensive. I'll have to keep me eyes out for goodies like yours though. I loved them!!

I ordered the 3 big fairy plaques a year ago, and surprised really how lovely they are and all three were just $14.99 of course. Gotta love Collections Etc pricing stuff this way.
I also had ordered this Fairy Memorial Stone for my garden to honor my Mom's memory. Haven't yet decided where to put it, so it's inside on a shelf for now.

I'd been looking for an old toolbox for a long time at thrift shops, and eBay has some but shipping gets pricey. I finally saved a pix of one from eBay that looked like it would be easy to copy for a pattern and just make my own. Luckily I found this one first. LOL.

My pink flamingo came from thsi antique mall last year. I actually saw his mate the other day and was going to grab her, she had her head down. But another lady got her first.
Darn. I did get a pair of the "Snow Mingos" from eBay that I love.

Oh, Karen, such great finds! You know my favorite is that wooden bunny sign! That is going to look so good over your door--it's patriotic AND bunnies. Love it!

That little house will go great in your fairy garden, so cute and good painting too.

And those fairys are so pretty. Great idea to have them "flying" over the gnome area.

You are so creative, I just love all the cute things you find and how you use them. Great finds--so fun to get to see them all.

Great finds Karen...I like the odd (unique?) candle holder...even though I don't like to burn candles...I like the color it is..Is it strong enough to hold a gazing ball?
Could use as a pretty bird feeder? Ideas...ideas...
Will you "plant" the toolbox?
The Fairy Memorial Stone made me sad...it says so much.

Ashli, it's not strong enough for a gazing ball if a bowling ball was used for one. The glass gazing balls would be light enough. But this stand would probably tip over fairly easy I think. Even too many birds landing on it to eat, if they were the big doves I get here. I did decide I'll leave it white, probably use it for a plant stand.

Purplemoom, I love your pretties. I would love to see a pic of the blue totem just on the edge of your 2nd pic. Y'all have inspired me to do several things but I haven't done a totem yet and blue is my color. Thanks for sharing

hi rere. I love cobalt for totems and this was the first one I made. The base is actually a cement "core" that was given to me. Have 3 of them. One is under the blue fish totem but I just painted the cement cobalt blue. The one under this totem I glued on the half marbles for some bling.
By the way, it doesn't lean, just my photo here did. I also glued some half marbles on the plates I used. The big bottom plate, I found moons 'n stars at Walmart to use. Karen
