Well, they are pretty cheap to find...LOL...

and why not have a fence and shed with coffee mugs everywhere!

Pretty unique idea I think.

DH has used glass beer mugs for his coffee for years. He likes the large handles and the large capacity, and we hand test them before buying for good balance. We have had no issues with the glass and hot liquids. They do double duty as cold drink mugs as needed. I mostly use local hand thrown mugs, but with a similar capacity and similar handle shape.

My cameras disappeared over 20 years ago - foster kid who was short of money suspected. But one was an old 35 mm. model that used film, so it would have taken some finagling to have provided you with my mug shot, even were it still here and operational. So a verbal picture will have to do. Daughter gave me an oversized one, about three years ago, that's about the average height, but bigger around, so it is reasonably efficient at preserving the heat. When I get absorbed in some interest, though, on occasion some time elapses between drags/sips/whatever you want to call it. In which case, some treatment in the microwave brings the contents back up to a condition that one considers appropriate. It has a desert scene, largely in variations of beige and brown, as a background, with large raised letters "A r i z o n a" in fairly large letters, darker brown, going pretty well all of the way around the mug. Some would only want the dark brown of unadulterated coffee within ... ... but my preference is for some sweetness (more than I have available on the inside) .. ... and some cream (being a long-ago graduate of the farming training school of hard knocks) ... ... so the liquid inside of my (exterior) mug is rather a beige colour, that complements some of that on the outside of the mug. As to what colour it may be on the arrival inside of my mug ... no one has ever investigated that ... but I assume it to be similar to the colour that it was in the (exterior) mug. ole joyfuelled ... with a little help from coffee, from time to time

I had a walnut island top in my last house. We put coffee mugs down on it all the time. Yes, after a while there were small scratches, but that's a wood countertop. Once every few months or so I'd clean it off and reapply oil and it was good as new. The only thing that caused a ring for me was a sweaty glass of Coke that someone left overnight. I thought we'd oiled it enough to prevent water rings, but it did leave one. After that I sanded it down, reapplied several more coats of oil, and we never had any more problems. If you have wood counters, you have: -A beautiful counterop -A countertop that will get scratches -A countertop that can be revitalized very easily I love walnut!!

With regard to the Mug Mix ... how about - half of an egg? With regard to the "*diet*" pop ... ... has anyone heard what they really put into that stuff? I've heard that if we knew, we wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Actually - I prefer simple water. With an ice cube, on occasion (especially since I don't have air conditioning - but can turn on the furnace fan, with the back panel removed, to shoot cool basement air up into the house, when the heat gets heavy). Enjoy your food - and your drink - and your good health (while it lasts). You've heard the reply that the person with a disability made to the able-bodied person who said that s/he wasn't disabled? The person with the limitation's reply was, " ... Not yet". Which reply should be of (increasing?) interest to us old coots. Who aren't (or claim not to be) disabled ... unless it may be of the mental variety. ole joyful P.S. Question: How does on have one's Mug Cake ... and eat it too? Answer: Two mugs ... making full use of that one egg, right? o j

I had to laugh--
Bill had a LOT of mugs, and drank a lot of coffee--
since I don't drink coffee, I use a glass mug for my tea. I will have to figure out a slightly smaller something to make to use Bill's mugs. Didn't know what to do before this

How on earth do they keep water and gunk out of them. In Texas I see a mosquito breeding ground right along with target practice! But gotta admit a unique way to make a "different" kind of statement!

I've seen this done with beer cans but coffee mugs is new. I think I like the mugs better. TFS

Oh my! I don't know what to say! Wasps, spiders, mosquitoes, snakes and dust are the first things that come to mind! (but then living on a dirt rd in FL will do that to 'ya, lol)

Really unique. It's done really well. I like the way it makes the house look like a log cabin. I wonder where it's at. Did they really collect that many cups or did they just happen to stumble upon thousands of coffee mugs :) ??? Do you think they leave it up year round like that?

I like it tho I can't imagine doing it. Just goes to show that repeating a motif A LOT can create an interesting result. 20 mugs would have looked like mugs on the wall, but 2,000 or 20,000 - a whole other thing.
Yikes, do you really think snakes will like them?

Same with you, Jeanne, for being tempted as well.

Caroleena, your Mayor would need sedating? LOL, love it.

As for "Wasps, spiders, mosquitoes, snakes and dust"...as pretty as this place is, I have a feeling the owner either doesn't have much problem with them or has a way to take of it. Considering the number of cups, I imagine a lot were 'donated' and rest bought at thrift stores for a quarter each. And over a long period of time. This is some SERIOUS mug collecting. However, if you drink that much coffee, you'd WHIZZ right thru building this. LOL

Nona, I bet you could find something neat to do with Bill's mugs! That would be a wonderful project for your garden.

I always see so many mugs at thrift stores that go unwanted because they aren't a part of a set or have some company's logo on them. This is a great way to repurpose them, that's for sure. I like it in an odd, weird sort of way.

Me? I'd rather break 'em up (maybe after target practice?) and mosaic a concrete or block wall with them (would deter the bugs from making a home in them). Kind of like this guy did with his house in Wisconsin.
