Perky, my old pink flamingo that I found in the antique mall last year, has some beads around her neck. I'm debating on painting her purple now. Why not, LOL. I painted my "Blue's Brothers" last night. Talk about frustrating! The seller had mentioned that there was some protective coating on them to keep them from ever fading in the sun. Well even tho I used Fusion for plastics, and it covered perfectly. The slightest thing will scratch it off. And of course I bumped them on things a few times trying to repaint the eyes and glue the metal legs on so they'd stay in place. So had to keep doing touch ups. I am going to spray a poly on them and hope that takes care of that problem. If not, then I hope nothing touches them once they are in the yard. LOL. I need to get to Michaels and see if they still have those black hats. If not, I might be buying the little straw hats and these two can be the country bumpkin cousins of the Blues Brothers. LOL. Instead of Jake and Elwood, I'll have LeRoy and Billy Bob. Maybe I'll put my other by them, she can be Sally Ann. Lord I am losing my marbles at an alarming rate these days. fldirt, TAKE PICTURES. Pretty Please. Suzysparkle, oh how I wish you had kept yours or taken pictures. They sound so neat painted all those colors. A herd of Rainbow Flamingos~~how cool is that! luckygal, if I couldn't shop eBay or online, I'd be a mess. LOL. I love that kind of shopping, especially finding neat things. I've shipped to Canada when I sell a friend's artwork for her, and its not been much more than across the US most of the time. Have you ever checked with a seller to ask their price to ship to you? Might be worth it for something you can't find there. I'll take photos of my flamingos soon. Think I might be doing the one in purple tonight after the sun goes down. We're over 110 and I'm not happy. Phoenix is Hell in summer. I can't wait till end of Oct. LOL hugs, Karen

Burning bush does not seed around enough here to be problematic and is not considered an invasive species in this area. In fact, in the 20 or so years I have had one (a monster, NOT the compact form), it has managed very little in the way of seed production. Even flowering is pretty insignificant. While it is always important to be aware of invasive potential, it is also important to remember that invasiveness nearly always has a regionality associated with it. Very few plants are considered uniformly invasive across the board in a very wide distribution. What is often considered an invasive species on the east coast is generally not of similar concern on the west coast, as our milder climate doesn't encourage seed production or ripening. Some very common landscape plants, like the euonymus, Japanese barberries or Nandina (heavenly bamboo) have the ability to set seed and spread freely in many areas of the east and midwest and are considered invasive species there. But they do not share the same habits here and - so far - are NOT considered invasive. For a more locally oriented listing of invasive species, check out the state listing or Garden Wise, a local publication sponsored by the WA State Invasive Species Coalition and member nurseries that offers alternate suggestions to potentially invasive plants. I have a friend that welcomed baby #4 that way too. I also know someone who had 3 kids already. Four days before her third child was to begin kindergaten she found out she was pregnant with #4. During the kindergaten open house other moms kept saying to her "It must be great having them ALL in school now!" She could'nt say a word. What is it with #4? God must really like that number. You seem to be in good spirits. Babies are not bad things. God must think that your a good mommy to give you another.

For future reference, EarthTouch in Huntsville has an amazing array of herbs every spring, anl all through the year. When I worked there they had about 10 kinds of lavender, in little pink cups.

Those flamingos are soooo cute. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I saw a picture in a magazine a couple years ago of flamingos painted various colors with hats on and necklaces around their neck. I found two pink flamingos at our Dollar General for $10. I may try to paint a couple of them.

Bright, trust me, finding pink flamingos in Phoenix is a real challenge. LOL. eBay time!!! Actually, last year I did find one in an antique mall here, to my total surprise. For a whopping $8. The lady at the counter looked suitably shocked that anyone would ACTUALLY buy this. I just looked her squarely in the eye and said "one pink flamingo, $8....look on son-in-law's face,
priceless"! LOL.

I bought a white pair off eBay, called Snowmingos. I love them. No way would I paint them either. I hope to get another pink one sometime to "make over" tho.

Wherever did you find this????? After I picked myself up after ROFL, I immediately sent the link to a co-worker whose first question was - Where can I buy these already fixed up????? Miss Susie, how true that these definitely brighten your day and your attitude because you can't stay upset or down after looking at these crazy birds.

There is one in the "Garden Junk Inspiration Pics" that ~SaywhatAgnes~ painted and turned into a Peacock that is really cute. But I can't tell you what page it is on. I viewed them all at once so there weren't any pages for me.

I believe those are all entries in a fundraiser for the Botanical Center in Rock Island, Il. It was from awhile back if I remember right. They auctioned them off after being on display at the center.

I had a couple of Pink Flamingos once. I named them 'Tongue' and 'Cheek'.
A friend had one with black spots. He called it a Dalmingo. I guess it was part dog. He had two dogs named 'Seiko' and 'Rolex'. They were pretty good watchdogs.
