Yet another silicone question

Sorry, I did read a bunch of back posts about silicone and I know a lot of you use the GEII for windows and doors. But my question is, is it adhesive? Or is it caulk? I have the caulk from caulking, well, windows and doors LOL. But people talk about GEII adhesives and people talk about GEII caulk and people talk about GEII sealant. What is it? Caulk, adhesive or sealant or are they all one and the same? Could someone please please PLEASE just post a picture of their tube??? I'd so appreciate it.

Kelly oh just proves once again - a picture can be worth a thousand words - ditto here - that is what I use, as well. BBs have been outside for 3 winters, no loss of flat marbles!!!

I've read that you are not to clean the fiilter media...ever. I built my own biofilter...not a skippy but I am about to add one due to all the good things I have heard about them. My pond is in the stage of green pea soup also. I have heard it is a stage that ponds go through this time of year. I am trying the quilt batting. I have it in the top layer of my biofilter and it is catching quite a bit of the algae. I purchased mine from Michaels. I also am using it around my pump. I am letting it run two hours around the pump because it gets pretty dirty quickly. This works great to catch all the small algae. You have to be careful to not catch the batting in the pump. I guess we will see how good it works. I'm thinking about building something that would add some type of barrier between the batting and pump to avoid this problem. Probably a project for tomorrow. Good luck! If anyone has good ideas to get the pond clear I am open to the hints as well!

(Cross-posted in other Miele Steam Oven threads) We bought a Miele DGC 6800 XL Combination Steam Oven (non-plumbed) and a few months later on a whim descaled the unit. Right after the descaling process, my Miele steam oven gives me a 'Fault 20' whenever I try to do steam cooking. The regular convection cooking works fine. Expected more from Miele. I wish I had bought something else! It's out of warranty even though we probably used it about 20 times. Now Miele is asking for $150 for a technician to come out and pay an additional $90/hr for labor + $ for parts!

Screw holes: Shoot a dollop of urethane caulk (or 100% silicone) into the hole, then drive in the screw. Clean up any squeezeout. Cutting the curb or pan: Use a piece of wood as a straight edge to guide your blade and cut with a saw. A muscle-powered handsaw or drywall keyhole saw works fine. Or even a kitchen knife; a serrated edge helps. The curb can be trimmed however you choose. I try to pitch the top edge back into the shower. You could install the curb level and pitch the tile with thinset. Should the pan need to be trimmed, ideally take an equal amount from each edge of the pan. Next best is to take an equal amount from opposite edges of the pan.

Thank you! This is an existing bath/shower enclosure. The sheetrock is already there. The old walls had tile with like an inch of mud underneath. Our GC is putting the hardibacker over the sheet rock to bring the depth back up for thinset and tile which will have a similar profile as the old tile in that there are 1/2" bead trim pieces for the edges...it will not bump the shower beyond the rest of the wall at all. Given this, is it okay to have the following... sheetrock 15lb felt hardibacker 500 thinset and tile Thanks again!

It's all three. GE is silicone caulk adhesive :) It does all three!

I am probably one of the few that do not use GE Silicone II. I used the cheapy Mainstays stuff from Wal-Mart. I did a bunch of fish bowls and other glass items covered in the flat marbles and then used it to do two BB's. The only thing that I have had trouble with was one BB and I had also spray painted it so I think it was a spray paint/silicone issue there since everything else is fine and they are older pieces.

DH started using this silicone and also the caulking at work that's called Quad. It's in a black tube with white lettering and orange designs. That stuff has worked better than ANYTHING we have ever used around the house to seal or glue things together. I might have to try it out with my one BB that I have sitting out here that I need to do something with.

LOL Sweets, I use Walmart silicone,too :P Never had a bad tube of it, though I know it could happen. Everything I've ever made is still holding up,except for clear glass punch cups I glued to a chandelier, and squirrels kept chewing those. I have gotten two tubes of bad GEII, it was grainy looking and never dried. I've used it on bowling balls to glue flat marbles, gluing cups and saucers to spindles, and I still use it to glue mosaic to birdhouses. I used it to glue my cement mushrooms together. And I used it to glue glass totems and bird baths. I use it to make a lot of repairs,too:)

YEAH!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!! YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! To Kelly oh and everyone else!!!!

Thank you SOOO much! Everyone describes it just a teensy bit differently, it soooooo helps to actually see a picture of it! And it soooo helps that I already have that exact same tube on hand!;0) But when it runs out, sweets and kudzukween, I'll look at the Wal-mart stuff. I absolutely HATE shopping at Wal-mart...but they do seem to have the best prices.

Now I just need a bowling ball! LOL!

Robin,
check out garage sales, they are a great source for bowling balls. Also, if you have a local bowling alley, call them, they may give you or sell you some of their old balls.
