Yes I have seen them and they look very nice. At the craft stores, or maybe even Walmart, they have the three or four inch size glass balls which folks use just for a decoration in a bowl. They come in decorative colors with swirls, etc. You could paint the glow in the dark paint right over the pattern already on them and I bet that'd work as the paint goes on relatively clear. Find the glow in the dark paint at Michael's or Joann's Craft store in the decorative paint section. I'm pretty sure you could even find clear glass bulbs at Walmart or the craft stores right now. The spring/summer stuff is out and I'd look in the "sea side collections" as they might have them displayed as "bubbles." As the glow in the dark paint is not suitable for outdoors (at least I don't think so), you might have to use an acrylic sealer over it. Let the glow in the dark paint dry completely and then use a spray sealer or a paint on sealer (also in the decorative paint section at the stores).

Could you use one of those clear Christmas bulbs, like they put the feather in? Then paint your own design on it. Yes please post pictures, when you finish.

With the clear glass hanging ornaments, you could pull off the top and pour the paint inside and swirl it around till it's all covered. Then, let it set upside down over something, even the paint bottle, to let the extra drip out, so you don't waste it. With acrylic paints you can water them down slightly, I don't know if watering down the glow in the dark paint will loose some of it "glow" or not. We have a small Joann's here in town and they don't carry a whole lot of supplies. You might do better at a larger Joann's or Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or even a scrapbook store (I don't do scrap booking so I wouldn't know) in finding the paint. I got mine at Michael's around Halloween time. You can more than likely find it online also at craft any of those sites, or a craft supply site online.

I like your idea of hanging them from a tree. Use fishing line if possible and that would look like they were floating! Oh No, more UFO sightings in your neighborhood!!! LOL. A little dab of glue on the top rim might keep the moisture out of them.

WEll, I bought some of the clear glass balls at Hobby Lobby and found some "glow in the dark" paint and went to work putting the paint on the INSIDE of the balls and swirling it around - a method I have used other times for other things. OK - it DIDN'T take as much paint as I had used and it "pooled" in the bottom so I drained that out and after it quit draining, I let it dry overnight. THEN I hung it outside in the big old Maple tree to wait for darkness and was sorely disappointed as they did NOT glow as I thought they SHOULD> OK, I thought maybe they will the darker it gets - no go and NOW, today, I went out and saw that the paint had all run down to the bottom of the ball. So much for improvisation. Anymore ideas? Maybe there's "degrees" of glow in the dark paint? Maybe something I could add??

I reuse small bottles with narrow necks that must be thoroughly dry after I wash them. It can take days for simple evaporation to dry them. I speed the process by preheating my oven to 200 degrees, putting them in a metal cake pan with the openings on top. Then I set them in the oven, close the door Shut off the oven and wait about 1/2 hour. By then they are dry and cool enough to handle. You might try that if you need the paint to cure faster and not run to the bottom.

Remember that if it glows in the dark, it needs to have light for a certain period of time. I had a spot that needs to be lite at night a bit and thought it would help to use the glow balls, but they might not get recharged. But my curly willow would allow light to active them and I could see them in my secret garden

Don't know if I'm repeating anyone...

but you can swirl the paint inside...let it dry then pour some of the 'glow' paint inside and turn the ornament around until everything is covered. Then I think you would be safe in putting it outside. Just make sure you seal the opening with a silicon to keep water and spiders out.

If they were sealed real good the could float in a pond....that would be an eerie site at night.

This may not be what you are all after....but, at the pet stores they have glow in the dark rubber balls. So I guess the dog can find them easily???

They look real cool tossed around the garden or in pots to add some silly-ness. They come in different colors and sizes...don't mind me--just a thought!
