It's official -- wild blackberries beat the cultivated ones!

I posted about this before. I am sick of nursing these stupid cultivated blackberries that fail on me due to climate and rodent issues year after year. All I ever get from them, for the most part, are pretty foliage in the summer.

I have a self-sown patch of thorny wild blackberries that are now yielding really nice berries, not as large as the cultivated ones but big enough, especially when you consider that they don't winterkill and no rodents have bothered them since I don't have to mulch them heavily to protect them from the cold.

Time to rip out the Arkansas bred strains and spread the wild ones.
