I gotta know... pics 7 & 8... which Salvia is that? I LOVE Salvias and it sure looks like one to me but I don't know which one. Hmmm, if you're out there again in a few months I'd love it if you could collect seed for me! Whooo WEEEE! Did you smell the foliage. The desert Salvias have the BEST fragrance!

Love your creative photography such as the old pinecone and the leaves under water. Your totems and glass flowers are very nicely done, some of the scenery is hauntingly beautiful, the flowers are lovely of course, and Mama Cow and Calf are very cute. That foot impression rock is amazing and your meteorite is fantastic! Very nice tour - thanks for sharing! :-)

YES, those are salvias! Good call! I thought that I put the name with the photo but it may not have transferred over...those in particular are Chia (Salvia columbariae). From whta I've seen in my wildflower jaunts that they do not grow everywhere---more in sandy locations. I may be able to get seeds (I don't know). I'm going to try and get out in that direction again here soon. Today is a no go for wildflowers since it is cold and we are expecting some rain today. :-) I didn't smell the fauna so much that day. I bet if it was warmer that I would have. We've been pretty mild on the temps here lately. In that particular area I was taking photos I found at least 8 different types of wildflowers! I always love coming home with the photos and looking them up in my wildflower book!

Is TFS stand for "That's For Sure!" ? YEp, go ahead and GRAB ideas. Isn't that why we come here and post? :-) I still haven't "hung" mine up yet. I need to figure if that is the final way I want them to look or if I want to do something else to them. I collected those air fresheners for about a year or two before making them.

I'm a member of the Victorian Salvia Society so if I couldn't pick out a Salvis... YIKES!! HAHAHA That inflorescence is unmistakable.

I think it very cool that you can see Salvias growing in their native habitat. Australia has no native Salvias, and I knew nothing about plants when I lived in NY, just that I was very good at killing them ;-), so didn't even know what a Salvia was.

And it's ok if you can't get me seed... I was just so excited about seeing a Salvia in the wild.... wanted to grab it for myself! ;-)

You really have a wonderful hobby with the wildflower pic taking. Aside from making beautiful glass objects!

Your photos are beautiful. And there is something very unique and interesting about your plate flowers. The heavy ashtry, the combining of the opaque and the clear in interesting ways, a somehow industrial feeling... I love them!

You all are just too wonderful with your comments. It (to me) is SOOO interesting how each person likes such different totems and glass flowers. I came upon just yesterday a Flea Market that I hadn't known about. I'm going to look into it and see if I can get me a vendors spot. Looks like a mix of collectables, jewelry, antiques and other items sold there. Looks like it's once a month Spring though summer, Cash and Carry thing. So that may be my venue to sell these. ...
Cait, yes it is wonderful to see native salvias growing in the desert. Today I was able to get out again to that same spot. I came upon a dried up one but it didn't look like there were seeds on it. It's such a beautiful outcropping of them. I have some salvias --about 3 kinds in my gardens that just thrive here. I'm so sorry that Australia does not have any natives there. Do they sell them at the garden centers there? You know the wildflower thing is reltively new to me. Just started about a year ago. Just my Kodak digital that I'm still learning about. I've got such a LONG way to go but it's an adventure. I tell you I take a gazillion more photos than the few that really turn out. I "weed" through the bad ones and dump them. Keep the good ones.
Jeanne, you know it's so funny about the ashtrays. One thrift store I got a bunch at and they were so happy that I was depleting them of them. I have to go regularly to find the items though. It's a hit and miss kind of thing. My MIL used some of those to make mushrooms out of!
