I hadn't gotten to the idea of bowling balls in the yard.
so, I did my infamous google search for images and lo and behold...I found an example of a house that I do believe that I'm going to use as an inspiration for painting the place..

That inspector just doesn't appreciate garden art! He's living in the dark ages!! Could have twin urinals, toilets or sinks on either side of your mailbox. I can't see anything that would offend him but sounds like he is"stuffed shirt" type guy. I love that round thing with plant hangers hanging down & your boot looks better than mine, I need to add something that drapes. I see you have a lighthouse, nice! Everything is growing well, no weeds brown & ugly around. Hope he goes away. What are you going to do? Show him the video of others "garden art"? the neighbor next door is quite privy to landscaping and is proud of his cedar fence,...the one found to be on my property....lol
(he's outside fixing the end section, as I type this)..

and then there is my yard...love the freedom, no discipline, no rules, no guidelines and he HATES it all.
hence, the fence!

so, I'll try and get this picture posted and if anyone knows the owner of it...please, please give them my sincere gratitude....

the 'after' one is recently, so it was winter and doesn't do the yard justice at all..very dreary, in comparison to full growth of summer..but shows the junk I have collected, at least in that part of the yard...lol

the downed trees at the bottom of the picture, are the ones that the land developer cut, to widen the road..I about had a coronary, the day they started that..
it just made me sick..
I raised billy-hell over it and put up such a ruckus, that they finally made me sign a waver of responsibility, so they could drop the trunks in the yard..and wouldn't be reliabe, if they rolled into the house..
oh, give me a break..like they would.

that was to be a lot of firewood, just being hauled away, if I hadn't been so verbal about it.
as it turned out, some of them were used to make tables in the top of the picture, under the trees, where all the hostas are lined up. There are about 16 or something, pallets, on top of black milk crates, with the tree trunks holding all that up.
it really improved the growing process of the hostas.
I haven't had a slug problem since, in the past 3 years, since they were raised up.
now, more of the trees will be used for more of the tables.
most likely will run the length of the wooden fence, so I can put large pots of baby trees and roses. Things that will do well with the direct sun.
Hostas thrive under those two trees.
in the middle of the two trees, is a round patio table, where I used to have a few dozen fuchsias. they didn't winter over well and I lost most all of them, so only want to get one or two hanging baskets of them.
My cousin grows them for fun and profit and I'll get a few from her...trade some of my plants.
I want only orange ones..lol
the rhubarb will be divided soon..it's at least twice now, what it shows in the tires.
the boats are half full of cardboard and coffee grounds..which is what's in the yellow metal cart..
which is also what was termed "disposal of commodities" in the complaint, that the 'gestapo guy' told me..
so stupid!
a bunch of silver ten pound bags, from Starbucks..and a few clear plastic bags, full of grounds.
the wheel barrow is also full of bags of coffee grounds, covered with cardboard, so they didn't get too soaked and I couldn't lift them.

those two green plastic turtle sandboxes are my grandkid's..
for a while, I had potting dirt in them...lol
one summer day I filled one with leaves and the other with mud...
then let the boys jump from one to the other, for a "muddy buddy" day...oh, they had fun.
they sloshed around in the mud, like a couple of little piggies..then layed in the leaves.
at first they didn't know how to act but with coaxing, they got down and dirty..it was so funny to watch them.

Your case reminded me of a guy who wanted to put up a fence along his yard that was bordered by an alley. The city wouldn't let him so in protest, he planted toilets everywhere in his yard. I can't find his website to save my life (saw all kinds of pictures of a protest in Ireland though ... go figure) but it was hilarious. Maybe the city finally let him build that fence and he took the website down.

I have a question about the plants growing in the boot, did you drill holes in the bottom, fill with rocks or what? I have tried to grow plants in an old pair of high top boots, but its not working.

Jane, yes...that's the house and thankyou so much for the pictures of it..it's one of the chosen places I really want to see in person, if the day comes I jump aboard the clipper..

if I wasn't so adamant about gardening, with actual dirt and plants, I would love to fill my yard with this same kind of yard art but that never was the goal of what's transpired with my battle with the gestapo guy...

I always had tripling up the garden space, with whimsical things added all around..but it's been an uphill fight, for months with the next door neighbors and for the life of me, I don't know why they don't just get a life and leave me alone..
before they had the fence built, I could understand them not liking the pile of junk I had on the side of the house..that was acceptable..I mean acceptable that they didn't like it all..
but after the fence was built, they just didn't let up.

the day the survey was finished and I had a copy of it all in my possession, I was like given a second chance at life itself..
you know when you're in a restaurant and by chance you end up at a table, where the noisiest people in the world seem to gather..not just a couple but an entire extended family and they talk a mile a minute, top of their lungs and you wonder if they will EVER shut up or EVER leave...
then, they finally finish and leave the place..
you sit back and are so tired from them all, that you just sigh a sigh of relief...

or if you're out camping..in the quiet, in the woods..and some idiot cranks up the car radio, or battery operated radio, with music you detest....and they have a 'good ol' boy' party, bbq...
drinking...then arguing, then either the cops are called or they finally pass out, till morning, when they start it all over again.....finally, camping is over and you go home, exhausted....

well, having the survey papers confirming my thoughts that the fence was on my side of the property....
that was the same kind of 'silver lining' in the clouds that came over me..
I could think straight, I could sleep at night, I could feel comfortable in knowing my boundries,
both realistically and figuratively..
it was awesome...

now, since we've gotten rid of what I believe were the points of concern...solid waste..(appliances that showed, since the carport fell down from snow) and the bags of coffee grounds and other misc...I don't think there's any reason for me to concentrate on anything other than my gardening in potted plants and raised beds, with the other garden junk art that I had planned.

if he has a problem with any more, I will take it up with the county and file harassment charges.
it's just gotta stop somewhere.
and....I will have more than one person here, in my defense, to walk around, while 'gestapo guy' does the same.

I have 30 different emails I've sent to myself, from google, emails and posted pictures on here and other albums some of you have in your own folders...

there must be no less than at least a hundred photos...
all of them too cool to single any out..

no, the boot I planted was just an old work boot that didn't have a mate..it was one of the first ones that I had outside and just happened to be sorta in the way one day, so got a makeover..lol
since it's made from that suede type of material, I guess it sorta just soaks through, like evaporation or something.
I have one rubber boot out there, filled with dirt with a tall stick in it and it's full of water..totally useless, until I do make a hole of some kind..
but on the otherhand, I have a cute pair of kids' rain boots that are planted and have never filled up with water.
I must have put pebbles in the bottom of them, I can't remember.

these blue boots were actually made in June of '07 but the picture says the wrong date..the camera said '04..
right now, I have them as the background on the computer screen. just because the rain won't quit and they are so bright and cheerful looking, with the sweet flag, or whatever kind of grass is in them..I always get two of them mixed up..could be a different name of grass...lol

funny thing is...is that my son in law is a born and bred Irish guy...and when I had a truck a while back that I just didn't know what to do with, he suggested that the guys get together and dig a hole and bury it...in the yard.
and he was dead serious!
that's what they do in Ireland...

recently, the van I have and a classic GMC pickup, are on the 'gestapo guy's" list of troublesome issues.
I'd been ready to put up an argument but I swear, this picture just confirmed that I'm not going to get defensive about the vehicles..I'm going to take a number of the potted plants and put them all over the hood, top and around the edges of the two of them. tier up a few, on a short ladder on the space between them...put some other fun things all around..get inside and spray paint the windows, cuz I have some things inside..that I've told him it's no one's business what I have inside any of my vehicles..

so, again...a HUGE thankyou for this totally inspirational picture..it really made my day..
