Glass Birds for Cobalt Totem/Birdbath

Our glass blue birds arrived in the mail from Ebay! The color is not quite cobalt blue like the pieces in the totem/birdbath. At first I was disappointed. Then after attaching the birds, I really liked the contrast so the little birds stand out and don't get lost in the cobalt blue.

Had to take a picture today so I could share with our Garden Junking friends. I still need to attach a large plate to the base to give it sturdiness. The blue of the totem/birdbath really popped when I took it outside in our brief sunshine today. I won't leave it out there until the snow melts. Plan on putting it in a garden in the sunshine. :o) Had to share our little blue birds! Bear Hugs! Kirk

The contrast is PERFECT. They look wonderful on your totem and sure fit you and Carol.... LOVEBIRDS.

Kathy, I recognized some of the bird figurines from Dollar Tree. But I imagine she found others at thrift shops or yard sales, otherwise they'd be too pricey to buy so many. Matte figurines look so much better sprayed with high gloss so they have a porcelin look I think, and easier to clean. Some I've found at Dollar Tree and GW look a LOT better "glossed up". Lucky cousin and lucky birds! I agree with marlenee_2008 on the balance of the pieces. The colors are very pretty too - subdued so they don't take away from neighboring flowers but still a pretty neutral tone to be able to stand out on its own. I also like all the different textures. What a great idea to use a glass light shade for the bowl and to use a crystal knob to plug it up! Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm so sorry about all the problems and breakage on the red one. Awful for that happen. But it looks nice now. I do like Tasy on some of mine. And definitely let them all set over-night before I move any. That birdbath is absolutely GORGEOUS. I love, love, love it. What great colors! Hmmm, you gave me some ideas for hummingbird glass feeders. (I think that cobalt bottle I recently showed with the metal hanger must've been one). But I found a large round multicolored globe in a neat copper holder and been trying to figure how to do something with the bottom so I could hang it. Thank you for inspiration. hugs, Karen

Thanks. Kathy, our Restore over charges for everything too, but I they always have a good trash stack outside. Mayme, my friend has a corner of her yard with a bench and some garden prayers on signs,(she is a true artist)and some chimes, just a place she can concentrate on prayers. I absolutely LOVE the birds! IT's sometimes hard to get all matching "cobalt" pieces but these are a great POP! I love too the celestial motif on the edge of that top plate! I think that will be perfect for the birdies to use to grab and hang on as well! Thanks for sharing with us!

Beautiful!! That will really make a statement in the garden, with some colorful flowers & especially some blue ones to complement it,I love the pincushion flower in the baby blue (great as cut flowers too)"Butterfly Blue" is it's name I think,also in pink! Bachelor button would be nice too since you have lots of room. Your birds are so sweet!!The top plate is perfect with the floral edge!! Nice job of putting it all together! Jan

Thank you for your nice comments. This project has been so rewarding, collecting for it for 3 years. It was a labor of love as it all came together. The bluebirds were the icing on the cake. They do represent Carol and me with the heart they are sitting on. Concretenprimroses, the birds came that way on the heart. How cool is that? Now if the snow would melt...which it will. This winter goes down in the books as the most snowfall in a given winter in recorded history in our area. I BELIEVE IT! The sun is shining today. I took our birdbath back outside to enjoy it in the sunshine! Bear Hugs! Kirk

Geez, how did I miss this? lol! Love the shape and color of that birdbath and being a little bird lover any way, I just love the lovebirds on top! What a great way to celebrate your love!

Ok Kirk, so I was out today at a Flea Market and ran into Nathans 2nd grade teacher. She was a vendor at the flea market and had various collectables on her table. Two jumped out at me--a rainbow cobalt bird and a red cardinal bird---both glass and signed. I got them each for $2 (what a deal, huh?). So I did a search for them since one had a sticker saying it was from Terra Studios. Well, each one is worth about $10 each. I STILL will use them in totems for sure....because that's what I do. Then I remembered your birdbath birds and searched on Terra Studios website and found your exact birds there. So, I don't know how much you paid, hopefully less than from the studio itself. Here's the link--just thought you'd like to know...
