Fresh blackberry sorage question

Last Thursday I picked a couple pounds of blackberries to take to my parents' house to share over the long weekend. I rinsed the blackberries in water, dried them (not very thoroughly) on some paper towels, and put them in an air tight container on ice for the 10 hour drive to south Georgia. When we got to GA, we put the container in the fridge. We snacked on the berries here and there over the weekend, but by Sunday, when we decided to make some cobbler, there were some small patches of white fungus starting to grow on some of the berries.

I know freezing is the best way to go for long term storage of "fresh" berries and that preserves is another way to go for the not-so-fresh (but still good) berry storage, but I am looking for a better short term storage method that would keep the berries fresh for maybe a few weeks. Does anybody have any ideas or am I out of my mind to hope for blackberries (and raspberries) to keep that long?

Thanks,

Steve
