Window Inspiration Needed

Hi everyone,

Yesterday, I found 2 windows in wood frames on the side of the road. The frames are somewhat rotted, but should be okay with some sanding, I think.

I'm looking for ideas and inspiration!

Options I'm thinking of are faux stained glass, glass on glass mosaic design... or??? anybody have any neat ideas..??

I love your hypertufa pots! Nice blog. I was looking for the gorgeous faux stained glass windows I've seen here and I can't find most of them. The stained glass and mosaic forum has a lot of glass on glass (GOG), you might check there. That forum is over on the home section (as opposed to garden section where we are now.) I go to Trash to treasure from here with the link at the top of the garden junk page, then to "other forums" and you get a list of the home forums.
Below is a link to one faux stained glass window from the garden junk inspiration album put together for us by Karen/Purple Moon. I believe its made by smearing GE Silicone II (clear) on the glass then pressing colored glass into it.

Bianchi. NOPE the first one was HORRIBLE with sharp edges. I learned a good lesson on that one. The oly part that was smooth was the light blue tiles in the corners. They were all the same height. Even now mine are not perfecly floa. I just bevel the edges from thick to thin. I do try to keep with the same thickness pieces. Almost impossible with china. I know Annie and some others build up with thinset. I have never tried it. I suppose I should. OK kitty after his bandage again.BRAT!!! Have to scoot. Here is a link that might be useful:

Ok, that was helpful, thank you very much. I have been asked Not to use green (green looks great), or any teal related colors. He is not crazy about blue but it would be ok. I put an array of all colors of shirts on the lighter Dijon-ish color chair and am not crazy about most reds or oranges or a combo of the two. What I learned from the images is that my problem is still that I'm drawn to the rooms with more pop. So, the choice of either a gray-blue or gray-purple wall is fine as is using that undertone shade for an accent color. What my problem is I think... is that I need a poppier color as well. Rosy pink looks good but I know he will not want that. I think maybe I could get away with a grey wall with purple undertones, a few purple accents and a yellow (not cream yellow or dijon or neon yellow but a brighter yellow for my "pop". It's the big ass chair that has been throwing me off. Some pop will draw some attention away from the big ass chair. Maybe, the colors of furniture above as well as brass, glass mirror, black/gray, gray/purple, purple, brighter yellow,some texture, creamy yellow off white, shiny black...hmm, don't have any wood yet (future worry?). What do you think of this self diagnosis so far? What some might be thinking...why doesn't she just toss the stuff in sons home and let him deal with it? My response...I can't, I started it and will not rest until it all has some sort of look even if I become crazier lol.

sink without window? Crazy or fairly common? Inspiration pictures??

I always thought the sink was traditionally under a window because of upper cabinets. When at the sink, you don't want cabinets in your face. And, unless you put glass behind the cabinet, one cannot/should not, exist over a window. So, if a kitchen can have a window, the logical place to put a sink is where a cabinet cannot exist. Our kitchen design includes a stages 45 in an island and a clean-up sink along a wall without a window. The kitchen is in the interior of the house, with an island that overlooks a breakfast bay with lots of windows and doors to the back yard. Good luck with your planning. We are not done yet, but below is a photo of the wall sink area. The base cabinet is 27 inches deep and the counter will be 3/4 inch overhang, so 27.75 inch counter space. The sink base is 36 inches wide. The shelving above starts at 34 inches above the counter and is 18 inches high. The uppers right and left of the sink are 16 inches deep. The shelves are pushed back 3 inches, so 13 inches to the wall. The width of the shelving area is 54. The space somewhat mirrors the adjoining wall with a 54 inch range hood set 34 inches from the counter and 18 inches high. ETA -- I would not want a corner sink. I am short and I think the empty space in the corner would frustrate me. However, I have used corner ranges and actually liked having the counters right and left at an angle, but only for a 1 cook kitchen.

I love your birds and your little dog! How adorable!

I always wanted to mosaic something like this on an old window. I like how this person (don't know who to give this credit for) used those slivers of agate along with stained glass in their mosaic.

Wow! Those are great Luna! Thanks for posting. We have a really good gem store near by that sells the agates relatively cheap (people come here and buy their stuff to sell in other places). Because of this I find them at the TS sometimes too. Now I know what to do with them!

Here's one I did with car window glass. Be careful breaking the glass if you do this. It still needs to be grouted. Which will be done as soon as I can get outside to do it. My husband is going to make a stand for it and it will be a table.

Hey There! Those agate slices are ones I did, using some leftover scrap glass from a glass box/coffee table I had made..with sea stuff in it. Anyhoo, here is another window I did, but I even did my front door gog!!!

Ok, I am totally in love with these windows!!! I have 4 that I got off Craigs list last year. One I have hanging inside - there are 8 panes that are just perfect to hold 8x10 pictures. If there are panes, you could mosiac one or some, and put pictures in the others.

Calamity!! I loved your shower door! I've been looking for one to do (free of course), but I have to say that seeing how gorgeous yours is, I'm a little intimidated to do one.
