Like all winter squash, it is ripe when the skin is too hard to piece with a fingernail and the stem is hard and dry. It does not lose its stripes. Mature color is similar to Delicata.

If you can catch it soon enough you can rescue your squash vines from the SVB. Using a sharp knife, split the vine longitudinally on one side until you find the larva (Worm) and kill it. Heap some soil over the vine at that point and just beyond and water. It will take new roots at that point and continue growing. Of course you can prevent infestation too by spraying with strong pesticides, but some consider this horrible.

George, I bet you're right, but I hate going out on a limb like that. Merton, I thought maybe I could find a comparison of the cucurbita seeds that would help you, so I checked my copy of Suzanne Ashworth's book SEED TO SEED: SEED SAVING AND GROWING TECHNIQUES FOR VEGETABLE GARDENERS and here is how she describes them: Cucurbita maxima: Thick seeds that are white or tan or brown with cream colored margins and thin cellophane coatings. (As George pointed out, your Lakota is a maxima so should fit this description.) C. moschata seeds are small, oblong and beige with a dark beige margin. (Your butternut is a moschata so one of your two solid tan types of seed ought to match this description.) C. pepo seeds are cream-colored and each has a white margin. Your acorn squash is a pepo so its seed should match this description. The problem is that your spaghetti squash is a pepo also, so its' seeds ought to match this description too. C. agyrosperma (formerly mixta) seeds would be the easiest to identify because they usually have small cracks in them. (They are described as white or tan with a pale margin and cracks in the skin coat on the flat sides of the skins which are covered with a thin cellophane covering.) None of the squash in your packet are agyrosperma types though. If you have specific variety names for your spaghetti, butternut, acorn and Lakota squashes, you probably could google and find descriptions of each squash, including the approximate size of the mature squash and that size might help you figure out which of your pepo seeds is which. Or, you might e-mail the seed company and see if they can tell you, by description only, which seed is which variety. Dawn

if you used fresh media to start the seed.. like you.. i would also presume it wouldnt wear out inside a few weeks ... i would lean more toward lack of sufficient light ... on a plant that big.. indoors in that size pot ... if you do it again.. start the seed a week or two later.. so you will have a smaller plant to deal with ... is it only the lower .... oldest leaves???: ... if so.. that leads me to low light levels ... are they under lights?? .. how does the light hit the lower leaves .. and if they are in a window .... has the sun risen in the sky.. and they arent getting as much light now???? regardless... they should be outdoors already..in full bright shade.. hardening off to temps and brighter light [perhaps into the garage at night if low temps are expected] ... a few days in bright shade.. and few days in some weak sun [morning and evening] .. and then in the ground within a week ... watching the forecasts for late frosts ... and since you will be planting them.. i would not go dosing them with anything other than some very diluted plant food .... and then only water for the first week or two in the ground ... germination is usually the easiest part.. lol .. its the rest where we screw it up ... and i wouldnt go all batty loving it to death.. now that you got that good looking a plant .. this far ... get it in the ground.. and it will sort itself out.. IMHO .. ken ps: i see flower buds.. properly timed out ... they would not be flowering in the house ... you may lose those flowers due to transplant shock ... dont worry about it... soon enough you will be begging friends to take excess squash away ... lol ...losing one or two early is not a problem ....
