HELLOOOOO MY GJ FRIENDS!!!!

I know, I know. I've been AWOL for waaaay tooo looooooong! I actually do check in here every so often and have a peek at what's going on, but, for reasons unknown, haven't commented on some of the beautiful creations I've seen.

But I recieved a lovely little email from our dear, sweet Nona, thank you Nona, and when she comes acalling, I LISTEN!! LOL ;-)

No, I don't have updated pics of my mosaic bench. Sorry. Who knows when I'll ever get that finished.

But I have been working a bit on my Gnome Garden. And since I have been, gnomes have began to 'appear'. I guess they're correct when they say - If you build it, they will come. HA!

Much to my chagrin (ya like that? HA), the pond behind the gnome with the fish got a hole in it. I located the hole and need to fix that. I'm thinking I'll just patch it with a small piece of liner and tons of silicone.

So, what has really kept me quite busy is the kitchen renovation. Yes, after having most of the boxes sitting in my dining room for two years, I finally decided in August to get that project started. I actually have to take updated pics because I changed the overhead light - the one in the pics is now in the ex-dining room. I no longer have a dining room and made it into a 'parlor'. My friends here LOVE that I'm bringing back the parlor. But I haven't finished that because I'm making a be-spoke, meaning build-in, cupboard and have to put the doors and trim on it.

Below is a link to the kitchen. Yes, I'm cheating. I know the kitchen reno pics belong on the conversations side, and I hope you will forgive me for being lazy and not posting them on that side.

Oh, and it was 'hard trash' week last week and I did go curbshopping, unfortunately, pickins were slim. I only got a couple of things which I haven't even taken pics of yet. But I'll try to get those to you all.

Hope you like the gnome garden updates and the kitchen. I worked my patooty off on that kitchen. I'll be planting more around the ponds - we're having a bit o rain of late, and the weather is starting to cool down - it's fall here and you lucky guys are heading into spring, so it's a great time to plant.

Very cute garden, I love your frogs!! I can't believe you did your kitchen yourself, it looks great!! Glad you used several colors for backsplash. I think all dark blue would have been too dark looking & that color would show any smudges. This way it is very upbeat! Ovens are smaller inside,mine is & prices keep going up & ability to actually bake goes down.1 yr local business invited people to bring their turkey & cook it before they bought,I understand that, mine takes twice as long as in old oven. The little breakfast bar will be great place to have morning coffee & also good for planning your day. Handy for when friend is over & you are just finishing up cooking, they can sit there & talk to you instead of sit in another room waiting for you to come in. Very inviting! Great job!! Jan

FABulous job on the kitchen. At first I wasn't sure about the red tiles, but they definetely are the finishing touch when you see it all together.
Love the colors, love the tile, LOVE the floor.
I'm very jealous-- do you want to come to the states and do mine now? lol

I would live in the house for six months to a year before you spend any money on the kitchen. During that time make notes of the things you like and ideas for change. It would be a waste of money to change out the backsplash, then decide you want to change the range hood or the counters. Get your idea book crammed with pictures and then look at them for the theme that attracted you to them. Years ago I had lots of pictures marked in all my magazines (remember magazines?). When I looked at the collection, I realized the common theme was blue. That told me the direction to take in my new house. Your kitchen is beautiful and functional for now. Walk around with your cup of coffee early in the morning to discover what you like about it. Sip your glass of wine in the evening while you contemplate the changes that will bring you the most happiness for the money.

Paint a neutral color. I would think cream since you have warmer tones and hire a crew to do a super deep clean. If there are any obvious broken stuff like switch plates or whatever, then replace because people will assume a place hasn't been maintained well if they see broken stuff. I live in a high rise and recently two almost identical apartments were sold - same size and layout and both were going to need serious updating. One person did nothing but paint and got $50,000 more than the person who did nothing. Both places really needed gut remodels in kitchen and baths and the one that sold for $50,000 more even had terrible water damage on the floors so that it would have to be replaced quite obviously. You are never going to be able to actually upgrade so that it looks 2023 so why bother to do anything since you are going to attract a buyer who either wants to redo to their own taste OR who is happy to get a functional home for less money than it would be if it were remodeled.

I'm a big Green Bay Packer fan and for Christmas (2008) my sister got me a packer gnome. A couple friends warned me not to put it in the garden because they tend to multiply.

Oh, cait, it's so nice to hear from you & to SEE some RL flowers outside!!! AWESOME! Looks like your pond gardens there are taking off quite nicely! CUTE! That bridge you rebuilt is perfect with the ponds!

And, your kitchen, well, no words for all that work!!! It is just so WONDERFUL...I love everything you did in there! Been wondering about you this winter & your IKEA cupboards...so, now, we all know...you GOT 'ER DONE! AWESOME! TFS pics & updating your lovely gardens! Jeanne S.

Thanks everyone!

I was hoping to get in the garden again and work on the Gnome Garden but we've been having BIG rain! I am NOT complaining ;-)

What a difference a year makes , huh? Last year at this time we were just getting over those horrid fires and this year we've had rain, rain rain throughout the month of Feb and it's still going on now in March.

Our Lady Gardyn, aka Secret Garden, is sooo overgrown I can't walk down the paths. I severely chopped one huge bush, looked kinda diseased, but the other bushes... it's pure mayhem!

I have a lot of things to plant and one I do I'll post more pics cuz I'll be adding my trash finds!

It's great to hear from you and ditto about what Jeannie said about the real flowers. I am in awe over your kitchen. Girl you really inspire me, makes me want to tackle some big projects.

Great job on the kitchen, Cait! I like the different colored backsplash and your cabinets look great too. Fab job on the counter/bar too. I love curves in wood.

Your gnome garden is coming along very nicely. Have you been making any gnomes? I remember you got the molds to make the 7 dwarves for a steal. I was trying to see if I could recognize Doc, Sneezy, Dopey, Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy or Bashful.

On a goofy note ... Monday when I ran around getting my name changed, somehow Bob and I got on the topic of the Seven Dwarves while we were at the bank. We couldn't think of Bashful. So when the banker came back from getting forms off the printer, we asked him. Between the three of us we got it. Good thing our banker had a good sense of humor. lol!
