I really need to find my camera ...

Since we have moved, I haven't come across my camera yet. So I wish I could share pictures of my finds. :( This weekend I went junking to see what I could find for the Spring Fling. I got some awesome stuff for my Spring Fling Friend along with a bunch of great stuff for myself.

I bought a small wooden highchair made for a doll. I want to paint it and put in on the porch with a potted plant on the seat. I got 4 very pretty and colorful flower pots at Goodwill. They would be great with flowers in or used in a totem. I want to make a planter out of an old lamp and a metal colander as seen in Country Gardens Magazine. I found the metal colander, now I just have to find a cheap lamp. And did I mention that my DH bought me a rusty huge old hand saw? I think it will look like some scary monster in the garden with the teeth side up ... almost like the ridges on the back of a dinosaur only this creature would be submerged in the dirt (no kids or pets here). I'm going to have to find some type of flat marble that looks like an eye. All in all, it was a great weekend.

Yep, you definitely need to find that camera! Glad you found so much neat stuff, that little highchair especially.

I have been having same problem with a table for my eat in kitchen, and I don't have a dining room, so the kitchen is it. After the cabinets and countertop, the remaining "floor space" is about 9.5' x 12'. I have a 42 x 60" table in there now, and it is a little wide, but there is enough room that in a dining room the same size, I could fit a shallow server without too much problem as long I didn't plan to add the 2 leaves to it. One leaf would be very tight but might be doable. However, because it is a kitchen, not a dining room, and I want more room to walk around while I work in the kitchen than I would need in a dining room, I want to go even smaller. In my case, there is a door from the garage leading into the kitchen and I also don't want the table to obstruct traffic flow. This is what I found in researching my options, which are even more restrictive than yours: Some manufacturers (like Nichols and Stone) make a 38 X 60" table that might be more comfortable in that room. You might even consider an oval, which is what I am considering for a kitchen table, to help that bumping into the corners thing, also. If I could find a 38" round with a couple of 18" leaves, I could have the best of both worlds. It would give me the narrower width, I could keep one leaf in it to make to a small oval, have no corners to bump into, and another leaf to extend the table only when I need it. With the price of nice sets like N&S and Canadel, I am wondering if I could have one custom made by a local creaftsman. Anyway, I would not try to put a server in it, too. If hubby is handy or you could hire someone, you could get a built in hutch or something. That might make a serving area more comfortably "doable". If you really are set on getting a server, I would go with the smallest round you can find and a shallow server at the long end of the room, or a rectangular table like you describe but know you will not comfortably be able to use the leaves. Hi there Carla. When I saw this topic, I couldn't believe how up my alley this question was. For the last five years, I've been working in selling cameras while going to school. Our store stresses superior product knowledge and I pride myself in keeping up to date on the camera market. Basically, I'm familiar with about 90% of the non-professional cameras on the market. Anyways, sorry for tooting my own horn there. The Yashica T4 is an excellent camera (I own one!). Lore hit the nail on the head in that it's all in the Zeiss lens. The T4 Super Date should run you around $200, about half of it's value being in the lens. The only other P/S camera that might come close to it is the Olympus Stylus Epic (make sure it's the one with NO zoom, and an f/2.8 lens). We did a side by side comparison of the two when the Olympus first came out and we couldn't really tell the difference. You may also want to consider upping your price range to get yourself an SLR camera. While spending more money doesn't GUARANTEE you better pictures, SLRs do tend to do a better job than P/S's. Lastly, Consumer Reports is probably one of the worst places to do research on cameras (though they did rate the T4 #1 for like 4 years straight). The problem is that they rate a small sampling of the cameras on the market and definately miss out on many models, both good and bad. Second, they rate cameras every 2-3 years, while in those off years, just reprint an old report with the updated models and just assuming that the new models are EXACTLY like the old ones. Good places to look are in photo magazines, though they don't "rate" as much as they just list them all and describe them. You kinda have to dig to find the actual tests they do. I'll try to dig up some URLs for you. I hope that helped for now... :)

Sweetstephanie, could you post a few pics of your current kitchen from different angles to show what it looks like now with the LR floor, removed clutter, and new stools? Your photos will bring in the current reality. I also wonder if the realtor used a wide angle lens because your aisles appear greater than 42" in the listing photos. Are all of the aisles only 42"? How do you use your butlers pantry? Could be a great place to charge stuff out of site. Did you install the wainscoting in the music room? Do you have a carpenter to call on for some fixes? It sounds like you'd really like to do a hood, ovens, MW move, and some fridge refinement. If this is essential in your 10 year plan can you draw up a floor plan with accurate measurements? I emphasize this because I think (and understand) that you really want the new counters, but other essentials should happen first. With a carpenter's help you may be able to move some of your cabinetry around to streamline the look and make the appliance changes. Do you want to level out the cab tops? An additional thought is to change out the cabinet crown once cabinet work is done for a more contemporary look and to use some of the above cab space. We've seen some great examples here. Cove lighting would also be nice along with UCL. While you are working on the big decisions, I'd start getting paint decks, paint samples and poster boards to pick your colors. Grays are fun to work with. I chose SW Agreeable Grey as my transitional color that joined my spaces and goes up and down stairways. I have a slightly darker gray and a plum as an accent color. You can have some interesting transitions between your spaces and certainly an accent color. Any plan for repeating the wainscoting in the living room? We don't know what part of the country you live in, but from what you've shown us it looks like your house has good bones and will only benefit from the wise improvements you make. Ten years is a long time as others have pointed out to not be happy in the most important room in the house.

Ack! I forgot one of the best things I found over the weekend ... I'm always collecting bowling balls to mosaic. So I got excited when I saw one at one of my favorite thrift stores. I picked it up and lo and behold, who did I see on the side? None other than Bugs Bunny! Elmer Fudd was on the other side. It is a child's bowling ball in a pretty green. I don't have the heart to mosaic Bugs Bunny!

I plan to have a small vegetable garden in the back 40 (40 square feet that is lol). I have been collecting farm animals to put in the vegetable garden. I have a cute pig cookie jar, a fat little cow and now Bugs. I'll have to keep an eye out for some chickens and ducks too.

Did you get a craft room, luna? (upstairs)??? I'm glad you got moved & will be able to garden some (outside!) this yr...your little veggie garden sounds wonderful! Find that camera, woman! Jeanne S.

Jeanne, I will be working in the basement where there is a sink and a toilet. lol! Gotta have a potty close by! I want to put my old microwave down there and a little fridge so I can practically live down there. Right now I'm waiting for my DH to finish fiddling with the electricity to the garage. The pipe that connects the wires to the garage is in my storage room where I want to put all my craft supplies. Now that the basement has been painted and the moldy drywall taken out, it doesn't bother me any more.

I could take pictures with my phone but I'm not sure where the plug-in is to hook it up to my computer. If I were electronically savvy, I could probably send pictures from my phone to my email.

Once I do find my camera, I will take pictures of my great finds.

I went shopping again today and found some other goodies. My favorites? Two orange glass vases. Now I have to look for some plates that would go with them for a totem. I know the cobalt blue kind would be stunning. I am going to hunt down my camera tomorrow! I am wiggling around like an excited puppy wanting to share my finds!
