Aluminum siding is very popular after being largely displaced by vinyl siding. Aluminum siding is in demand by homeowners who appreciate its durability and style. Aren't both color and shutters very much matters of personal taste? e.g. I like houses in that style to be yellow and have no idea why. Very light yellow. I can't see the trim clearly but I'm also liking various shades of white to pale cream or gray body with aqua/teal/peacock trim. So don't go by me! And I don't like fake shutters at all. Preparation: The best way to paint aluminum siding (DIY) is to power wash the surface first and allow several days to dry. You may need to brush and wash to remove chalk build-up. Chalk build-up will prevent full adhesion to common paint films. Mold and Mildew must be killed with a bleach solution. Paint Please do not substitute inferior, less expensive paints for exterior use, especially aluminum siding. You're going to work hard to complete this task. Make sure you use the best product available that you can afford. Caulking Old caulking should be removed and a new modern elastomeric caulk should be applied to all joints as previously caulked. Tools Application tools besides a sprayer can be a quality brush or combination brush and roller. I don't know the profile or panel heights so it's hard to say roller or brush. Remember,you must paint the underside of the profile, and do not block the vent/drain holes with paint. If the siding has a woodgrain texture, be sure the roller nap will fill those grains. On woodgrain, I prefer a brush or spray to insure complete, even coverage. Michael

You can paint aluminum. Instead of powdercoat, it may be bronze-anodized, which is sort of a plating process, but who knows? Clean the residue and try touching it up with a black sharpie. Casey
