grape vine shock? overwater? underwater?

Planted Frontenac grape vines in my yard around June 1st in Minnesota. Gave a few inches of garden soil around the vines that were all about 2 - 3 ft in length.

They were very healthy when they are planted...but after several days of 90 degrees the vines are starting to wilt slowly. Mainly from the bottom up... Leaves are turning crunchy and yellow brown and starting to fall off. The ends look better than close to the root.

Have been watering with about half gallon of water every 2 out of 3 days I would say? The hot temps and wind should be drying the top inches of soil. I can't believe I have overwatered them? Going down 3 - 4 inches in soil is moist.

How much water should new grape vines be getting? Is this shock? Or overwater or underwater symptoms?

Please help, I don't want to lose these beautiful vines.
