Another version of totems

I asked for ideas of what to make with my bottle cutter over on crafts and decorations and evelyncraftdiva directed me to a site where I found this interexting totem. Check it out.

The second piece from the top is a large glass smokey gray bead that's cut like a crystal. It's about size of a decent orange and I think it used to be part of a lamp. I glued the red half marbles onto the dish to compliment the red ball on top. I can't say that I'm sorry to not have to deal with the snow you all have up north but there are a few downsides to living in florida too. For one thing it gets so hot and sunny here in the summer that when you have pale skin like mine you have to make sure you have easy access to shade or else you end up looking like a lobster! And I don't even get a tan for my trouble, I just go right back to white. lol Another down side is the hurricanes!

Glad this thread returned altho I thot I had posted to it. That is some beautiful glass Jeanne and a very nice composition. Lovely gift. I've always used GE Silicone II and only had one totem out of 40+ come apart. I think it was because DH was moving them and it was made of very heavy glass. Because we live in a cold climate DH always moves my totems to the barn so they are under cover over winter. Dottie, thanks for the tip about Lexel, I might try that. The only downside I've found with silicone is that it's not completely clear.

Very nice as usual! I went to Wal Mart & as I left, saw that the Goodwill across the street was now an outlet, well, couldn't pass that up so went over there! It was very disorganized, clothes were in piles in bins, some small collectibles, plates were 99cents each for small ones, some chipped,teapot with fruit display on front & quite small was $5.99 so not cheap at all. I spotted a bushel basket but it was like 1/4 size of full bushel so I wondered what kind of price it would be. It was $1 so I got a bargain after all. It will hang in my garage with the rest of my baskets.It's on way home from getting my allergy shot so I may stop in again after a bit maybe they will be more organized & have better selection. Jan

I tend to think that a painted piece like that should stay on the porch. But I wonder about painting things on the inside so the glass would protect the paint. Course that wouldn't work on plates.

Very nice, almost looks like wood at 1st glance!! Lovely piece. Would have to use glass paint & let it cure couple of weeks before even trying it outside. Jan

oh nooooo just had a great idea(lightbulb turned on).......if you spray painted the final project....sealed with an waterproof sealant ....you could actually have different areas of your yard,different colors of totems weeeeeee. hubby not going to like this one! lol
