Last minute search for Paw Paw Scions. (and Walnuts)
Comments (0)Does anyone have any named variety paw paws that are still dormant that they would be interested in trading me scions of? I had a source all lined up to get some exciting cultivars, but they forgot about sending me scions... and i forgot to remind them. Short season types much preferred. I am also looking for any good nut cultivars that can be grafted to black walnut, i have some black walnut seedlings i'd like to graft this season. Heartnut / buartnut / butternut are all interesting to me. I have lots of stuff i could trade, feel free to check out my list....See MoreHow long until Beach Plum and Paw Paw Fruit
Comments (5)Ed, The one paw paw got mowed down might re-sprout. Paw paw usually takes about 4-5 yrs to reach 7-8 feet tall and to produce. Mango is the most vigorous grower of all paw paws. Grafted American persimmon will take about 3-4 yrs to produce. Seedlings of D. Virginiana will take about 5-7 yrs to produce. You may want to protect these trees with wire cages to prevent them from being mowed down. Good luck!! Tony...See Morepaw paw grafting.
Comments (6)The two tree's that i got are Susquehanna and wabash. They are about two feet tall and they cost me $40.00 including shipping(U.p.s). When they arrived they had some leaves on them that were already yellow. They call you when they are shipping. All in all they were excellent. They carry all the Peterson varieties.I have planted the tree's already. The holes that i dugged were about two feet wide and 12 inches deep. Since i live in Ark..I got 50/50 soil and rocks,so i had to add some decent soil with it. Now here is how i planted the tree's. I placed a i/2gallon milk jug in the center of the hole and fill the dirt back around the jug and water it good, after a minute i pull the jug back out and fill the hole with some topsoil to the height of the little container the tree came with and then mulch it....See MoreHave: Strawberries, Black raspberries, rootstocks, paw paw, more. Comments (28)I never received anything from him for a trade set up last year. I sent a box full of fruit tree cuttings and plants and he acknowledged he got them, even commented on plants and then....nothing. An email 8 months later with a partial excuse and still nothing. He gives trades a bad name....See MoreNoogy
