These are my last bowling balls covered with glass marbles. They were so easy to make, spray painted and covered with marbles, all of them in one day.

They are all beautiful, but I think the red one is my favorite.

Gorgeous yellow BB. Love the idea of painting the ball first cause you're right, unless you're into that grouting stuff, it's a messy process - had to put mine under slow running water to smooth it out, and be extra careful the marbles didn't fall off. Sal

Yes, you can add paint or even concrete stains to add color to grout. The key is to make enough grout in the first place, because if you run out, it will be nearly impossible to make more to match. To get around this, I buy pre-colored grout in the most popular colors that I tend to use most often, like black, grey, or terra cotta. I've also painted the grout afterwards. Depending on the color you choose, it may take two coats. Just wipe off the excess that may get on your glass globs or tile as you go along. Use an acrylic water based paint. I like Patio Paints because they are especially made for the outdoors, but regular craft paints work well too. I always seal my grout afterwards, no matter if I paint it or not. Prevents algae and stains from forming.

There's another pond below those 2 in the pictures. I love my ponds too. The birds come in the summer and bathe in the channel. I love to watch them and the sound, of the water and the falls, is very soothing. That window frame was very easy. Had the old frame, added the box on front, painted it, and its ready to go in the garden. I cant wait to see it after it's planted. Deb

Materials Needed: Old Bowling Ball 650 Half Marbles or glass gems(approx. 6bgs of 12oz marbles) 1 Tube Silicone Glue (GE Silicone II, clear, outdoor) Cereal Bowl (or something to hold the work in progress) Wood Putty (optional) Outdoor Spray Paint (optional) Assembly Steps: Using the Silicone glue, work in sections to glue the half marbles in place. The glue will hold almost immediately so place the marbles carefully. It is best to do the top half of the BB and then let it dry overnight (set in cereal bowl) before turning the BB over and glueing the bottom portion. When doing the bottom portion you can either leave the finger holes open or see below for filling instructions. Place in the Garden and enjoy the shimmering beauty you just created!! Optional Steps: If your BB is black and you prefer another color, simply use an outdoor spray paint to achieve the color of your choice. Spray the BB well and let dry throughly before you glue on any marbles. If you wish to cover the finger holes in the BB, use wood putty to fill them and let it completely dry before adhering the marbles to that area. You can also use many variations when doing this project. Use clear marbles on a colored ball, use colored marbles, use small stones or pebbles, mosaic and grout. The possibilities are endless so let your imagination get some exercise with this one.

jeannespines, I'm not going to grout them, from a little distance they look great, they will blend well with the plants in the garden. I spray painted them before gluing on the marbles. The first one is a white/cream, second is brown and third is dark red. The paint gives them an uniform background. If I was using a mixture of broken china pieces with the marbles, yes grout would have been necessarily.

Maybe someday I'll finish my bowling ball. Got to bring it home from my friends house. She never wants to mosaic.
