Two neat Metal Sculptures!

This is a pretty neat sculpture made from old tools!

And I thought this "Scrap Horse" was really beautiful. No information on who or how it was made tho.

Just the photo I found browsing horse art.

I put both photos in our Metal Inspiration album too.

The horse is beautiful. I like the other too.
I don't think I could ever gather the materials to try a small tool sculpture tho. Brought home an old saw blade from the Yankee Trader store the other day thinking it could be part of a metal flower, and dh said thats a good blade, I need that! I think any tools I brought home would get absorbed into his collection. On the other hand theres lots of material right there in the cellar on his work bench! Lucky I don't weld.

Those are neat, but not the thing I'm looking for. It was a flower thing where they had taken the middle turning section from a ceiling fan & attached rusty trowels on one & grass rakes on another.

An neat little bathroom heater

My bathroom is 11 x 7. I've used the heater twice now. I turned it on just before getting in the shower and by the time I was done...oh..15 minutes...no gasping....the room was nice and warm. The heater has two settings...1500 watts which you feel immediately and a power saver mode of 1000 watts. From the brochure: "120F Exit Air Temperature. The exit air temperature is approximately 120F, warm enough to heat an entire room." The only thing I wish it had was a timer...and that it looked a little more modern.... but heat is always a good thing.

Thanks for sharing this great idea. The photos are helpful. (Thanks for yours, too, Mustangs.) I might be able to use this idea in my own mud room / laundry room. I plan to have a shelf above the (top-load) washer, so I can just scoop the laundry powder right into the machine. Why not use the space under the shelf for a curtain / cork board to hide all the hoses and power cords, plus have a little room to pin up some postcards, reminders, etc.? Trash 'shopping' and finding neat stuff

I wish we had a scheduled "trash" pickup day like that to get rid of large items. The city will only pick up appliances at the curb only if you call and arrange it. I often put large things at the curb and it isn't long before they are picked up by someone. Every night before garbage day people go up and down the streets in pickup trucks looking for metal and any other perceived "useable" items. LOL I cleaned out my basement and one guy came and took everything including old broom handles. Walking down my street a few years ago I came across a box that had all kinds of items in it. The woman had died and her family threw out some of her knick-knacks they didn't want. I picked up some "blue mountain pottery" figurine pieces which I sold for a good price at my yard sale and a few pieces I kept. My best friend's grandfather put his old unwanted fireplace andirons at the curb of his house more than 50 years ago and my brother David picked them up and brought them home where they have been used the fireplace in this house ever since. I love them and would never get rid of them. When my friend and her parents moved in with their grandfather the only thing I remember their fireplace being used for was for holding their toys box. LOL I wonder if old grandpa closed off his fireplace because a new baby was coming into the house and tossed out the andirons because he wouldn't need them. I see good stuff at the curb on my walks or after yard sales and I wished I knew how to refurbish or refinish. My sister was good at finding things and making them work in her house. Now that I think of it the old shutters that used to be on my house to frame the front door came from someone's garbage and I remember going out with my sister at night and taking them from someone's trash. She sanded and painted them black and they were good as new - something we would never have been able to afford back then. Anne

Wow! The horse is really magnificent! My DH would never part with enough of his old tools to make one like the first sculpture though! ;-)

That first sculpture is really cool. My Dad was a mechanic & we stored his tools in our shed when he came to live with us. He's gone now & I've been wondering what to do with his tools. This would be a great memorial for him in my garden! Thanks Karen!

Wonderful sculptures!! Don't take DH tools- fasttrack to divorce court!!LOL Men love their tools & women love men that know how to make something with them. These folks sure knew what they were doing. Horse is awesome, just the planning would do me in! Vicki, I think that would be a wonderful memorial to your dad & would make you smile every time you see it!! Love the idea! Jan

That horse sure reminds me of Heather Jansch's driftwood horses. I am amazed that people have such a wonderful sense of proportion when they make sculptures like that out of bits and pieces. To see some of Heather Jansch's work, you can go to her site below.

I'm with your hubby primroses! Any tools I find go into my tool collection. I couldn't put good wrenches out to rust!

I like the horse a lot. He looks like one of those anatomy models one would find in a science lab. The shiny chrome mane really brings him to life.
