Wow! Thanks for sharing this site. My head is spinning. I have been looking for themes for a large sphere I am making and you have supplied the jolt my brain needed! I wouldn't think of copying this artist's work of course, but there is a local art competition focusing on South Dade (FL) and since it is so agricultural down here - for now anyway - the grapes with farm rows has provided me with an idea how to portray the ever-vanishing farms on my sphere. I'll post pictures when I finish it if anyone is interested. Thanks again!! Amanda Yippee! I was not REALLY looking for an excuse not to spend tomorrow cleaning house in order to spend it playing in the mud, but now I have one! Bless you!

Anybody have an inspiration pic/site for tricked out bookcases?

No pics, I'm sorry. We embellished quite a few cheapo RTA bookcases for my shop (entirely lost in a catastophic flood that's why no pics.) A light sanding and a good primer and it was no problem painting them. We put crown molding at the top and added finials to some of them. We use fence post caps as finials - lots of styles to choose from. We also trimmed the shelf fronts and side fronts with decorative molding. Fabric is easy with a spray adhesive since the backs of the less expensive bookcases are usually heavy duty cardboard. They looked great and people were always asking about purchasing them. Gypsy-check her site for a phone # or get in touch with Crystal either here or on Carls. She just did a show with this lady. I am racking my brain trying to figure out how to do something like this but not all ceramic. I do a lot of ceramics but I would not have the patience or the tools to do all that clay work. Slow has done the start of one of the totems with metal lath. So far I have coated pool noodles with crete and will paint or mosaic them. Today I cut foam into circles and scallops for spacers and will need to get a hole in them then cover with crete. I have also thought of using two saucers glued together face ot face and holes drilled in them to slide on the rebar and act as spacers.I think a mosaiced gourd would make a nice topper with the metal lath leaves below it. Tons of possibilities. Crystal did not know how expensive these were, I would love to have a dozen and I know you would too, as you have lots of space for them in your acreage.

Great Site Kirk,

I think it took about a half hour to see all of the pics. There were some things in there that I will probably have to try in my yard. Man I wish it would stop snowing!

Thanks Kirk! I think I kept ending up on alternate pathways. I finally had to give up but I'll return again.

Thanks, Kirk. I spend many sleepless hours browsing Flickr.
Seems like every time I open a photo, then I notice all these other interesting photo links. So I quickly bookmark them and then finish the one I was looking at, so I don't get lost in Flickrland. LOL.

Thanks for that link, Kirk. I spent a couple hours there last night, and I'm going back. It was like a mini trip to the garden art museum. What creativity and imagination there is out there! Very enjoyable! Should come with a label- Warning- Will expand your horizon. Will cause you to think outside the box..., lol.
