Got lucky at TS today!

We are headed for a cold spell, so I went to two Thrifty Shoppers on my lunch hour today. Boy did I get lucky.

I found two great crates that I will use to help organize my garden shed (they are large but shallow). Two wooden leaf plates to mosaic, a lazy susan to mosaic, a stepping stone kit, a heart mold I'll use for stepping stones, a lamp globe for a totem, a cute metal kitty hook for hanging garden tools on, a dish that can be used as a feeder or birdbath, Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 software (only $1.99) and an item I have been looking for forever.....a beautiful metal chandelier to hang in the garden. I may try and turn it into a feeder...not sure yet. What do you think?

Whoooooweeee Adina. You sure did get lucky. I can see why you'd be excited over the photoshop software. I could covet that. Like the chandelier. It will look good in you garden. Do like those leaf dishes. Congrats.

adinas72 I was looking at a site the other day and they took a chandi and put teacups on it where the candles go and made it a feeder. It was really cute...

Oh my gosh, when I was young, my Mom sent me to the store to get milk with a $20 bill. I came back with those 2 tall decanters those exact same colors!!!! Flashback! You made my day! Kirk P.S. Mom kept the decanters, but I had a sore bottom! LOL

"got the f. wilt" How did you come to that determination (are you sure)? "- yanked 3 plants ; and then today noticed BER on my JF - what can I do to amewnd the soild for next year other that crop rotation - I;m limited on space ~ 12x12 ' any help would be great ; should i collect alot of seaweed as compost and crush up seashells to an almost powder to add calicium ?" Is it possible for you to have a soil test ? That's what I'd recommend before you go adding a bunch of amendments. You may need calcium, could be the pH... maybe neither one. However, as you may have noticed due to all the threads about BER that have been posted lately, the primary cause tends to be uneven moisture. Are you mulching, trying not to over or underwater? "any help would be great - I really dont want to have to go down the hybrid path" Hybrids aren't going to make much of a difference, if any, for either the BER or the fusarium wilt, so you may as well grow what you like. The tolerances (VF, etc.) are generally only going to buy you a few extra days... not even noticeable to the home gardener. More noticeable and potentially helpful in commercial/mass production.

Wow Adina you really made a haul with all that great stuff. Love the chandalier....I just got one too and am in the process of painting it now. Decided not to make a feeder out of it cause the cups fill with water, so am making a bird bath/waterer for the little feathered beauties.

That chandi matches my exterior house trim color. It is sa-weeeeet!!!! The step stone kit will be tons of fun!!! You really got some cuties!!!!

You did do well! I have a couple of those little heart shaped jello molds. They make one of my fave concrete objects (tho since they are metal you have to spray with Pam or some other release).

Ditto what everyone else said! You know, I use my lazy susan when doing my mosaic projects. When I have a figure, pot, etc., I put it on the lazy susan and then I can twirl it around as I'm working on it. That chandelier is very pretty. Whether you keep it as a candleholder or make a birdfeeder out of it, it will look great in your garden! I like that weird cat hook too!

Great hint luna. I used my lazy susan for decoupaging lamps and it didn't even occur to me to use it for mosaic (not that I've done much yet). I have a double one that I got at a thrift store so I can work on two things at once. Guess this old brain is hardening up,lol.

Yes, it does make me giddy when I have a good day like this...LOL.

Luna - I found a marble lazy susan at a flea market last year and it has come in handy for projects. I like it because the marble makes it easy to clean off as long as I catch any drips before they dry completely.

I can't decide if I want to leave the chandy that color or paint it. It's a nice color already and no chips in the paint.

Great haul, adina...I just got Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 for Christmas (I asked for it) and it was $79 ... so you got a real deal!!! Everything you got looks like great projects ahead! Jeanne S.
