Sweetcrisp and Probably Not

My Blueberry fruit is maturing,including some that I'm pretty sure are Sweetcrisp from Mail Order Natives,a division of Superior Trees in Lee,Florida.
Also producing some berries this year are plants from Florida Hill Nursery and Oasis Tropical Plants.These two places I think sent the wrong ones.
I'm sharing some photos taken today of plants mentioned from the three businesses.
Included are two photos.The first one is the store front at Sky Nursery in Seattle,which I've been to several times and the one below it is of Oasis Tropical Plants in Springhill,Florida.Notice the resemblance?I'm not saying it doesn't exist,it could be the same architect.Has anyone visited it?
I bought the OTP plants on Ebay and have since read not so good reports about them.The owner signs his name as Dr. Michael Taylor. Brady

The first picture is Sweetcrisp. The others aren't. FHN never did send me any Sweetcrisp in two tries. I think they bought the cheapest discards someone was dumping and sent them out for any order mentioning blueberry.

I hope your Sweetcrisp are as good as mine were this year!!

Brady,

Springhill is about 15 miles from me and I have never heard of them......do you have a physical address?

Like fruitnut said #1 is the real deal others not.

Appreciate all the help as always. A very reputable nursery thought that the sunshine would work very well in NY and when researching it i realized it was Southern and was concerned. Maybe considering my intent for keeping it in a containerand the fact that it is self pollinating, that outweighed potential better tasting varieties. I am really focusing on a few black and rasps but figured if i could get some BBs too i would. I have an unheated garage i could slide them into so maybe sweetcrisp would work. In the new USDA map,I was moved up to zone 7B so maybe sweetcrisp would work. I don't know that i will have the space for a second plant as a pollinator though

Thanks to this site I was able to get in touch with Connie at Horner Farms in Georgia (http://www.hornerfarmsinc.com/) for Sweetcrisp. Her nursery mostly deal with commercial growers. I was looking for fruit and berry plants for my Sister's birthday. Since I had never planted blueberries before, I did not want to buy larger size plants. Connie had the smaller Sweetcrisps for $2. For a small order like mine, she took a lot of time to answer my questions and to find out what is the best shipping rate for my order. She also took the time to select plants with several flowers which were much taller (12") than I had expected (I expected up to 6" tall liners) with good root system. She was extremely thoughtful and included a couple of extra plants just in case the flowers did not survive the shipping. All I can say is wow and I am glad that I had the chance to see her contact information here and get my plants through her. Nice report. I have also noticed that the rabbiteyes are a little more soft than the SHB. Honestly, I wasnt really impressed with rabbiteyes this year other than Brightwell. For some reason that variety is sweet as soon as it colors up good. Also its crisp because it doesnt have to hang on the bush for 2 weeks like the other rabbiteyes. Ive read that its also partial self fertile. Hopefully, if things go my way, I will be able to give a good report on many varieties next spring. So far they have all put on good growth. I had to trim all of them back alittle bit because they were getting very lanky. Now they are coming back strong! One note about Emerald, that plant is a BEAST here in Houston. Its 5ft tall and 5ft around with canes 1 1/2 inches thick now. I thought the plant was stunned last year after planting. It didnt take off untill last Sept and it never stopped. Ive trimmed it back 3 times now and it will be over 7ft tall by fall. Its a very strong variety for the Houston area if anyones interested. Another interesting note about Blueberries in Houston. Ive read on several web sites that Rabbiteyes are much eaiser to grow than SHB. Im finding that not so true! Ive had one SHB get some stem blight but it already had it from the nursery and Emerald had a touch of blossom blight but thats it. The Rabbiteyes have had a tuff time this year with leaf fungus and early leaf defoliation. So far the SHB are eaisier for me here in Houston.

Thanks Ed, yours look good now! Yeah with most plants if they do not die the first year, you probably are doing well! Some exceptions. I had the NHB Chandler, and the first year that thing grew like crazy, the 2nd year it produced over 50 berries. I like the plant for it's growth habits. The berries are not bad, but take a long time to ripen. Has good hang time though! The canes are thick too, it's going to be a huge plant. Oh, a few of my plants threw late flowers too. One in ground did too.I removed them.

Wow. Good catch. I went to each web site and enlarged the photos as best I could. Looks like the same building to me. Even if it were the same architect, surely the client would have picked some different color say for the siding, roofing or brick work. And while the Oasis Tropical Plant website suggests that you drop in, I can't find an address anywhere on their website. Does anyone have a physical address for this store?

A website for west Florida Better Business Bureau lists 13 complaints against Tropical Plants and Trees since 8/2012. This website has several areas for the business's address. But only phone number, city, and state are listed. Doesn't sound like this "business" has a physical presence that they want to share with the public.

And of course, there have been large numbers of complaints on this forum

Like Isoh wrote,there is no street address and I think they ask people to send an email for directions.Seems kind of odd.I'd want to have my address on my website to get more foot traffic.
During the negotiations for price of the Ebay plants,the owner bragged about how he had different locations around the country.
On one of the emails after buying the plants,it listed Dr. Michael Taylor PhD

It is just a scam.......sadly Florida tends to draw these types as we have a long growing season and a couple of very large and diverse tissue culture labs.

Thanks fruitnut,I've just tried the first few Sweetcrisp.
In an earlier post,I think one of your descriptions was meaty.That is accurate.I might have picked them a little too soon,because although they were sweet,they weren't like say,Misty,which to me tastes like candy.
