I have nectarines, peaches, apricots plants, about 2-4 years old, ready to produce. Looking for anything I do not have. Also check my list.

Trader, I've never heard of a "nectarine babe" nectarine. A quick Google search didn't yield anything either. I'm wondering if this is some name concocted by Home Depot. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, just that I've not heard of it. Either way, if it is self-sterile your Babcock peach should pollinate it just fine (as long as there are pollinating insects at the time of bloom). You don't need a special peach tree to pollinate your nectarine. My guess is your tree is still too young to hold the fruit. I've no first hand experience with genetic dwarf peach/nect, but peaches in general typically bear very early. Nevertheless, two years is still pretty young. It should certainly produce in it's third season, or something is wrong. Occasionally peach trees will take a very long time to fruit but this is generally because of the planting location or care. A neighbor down the street claimed his peach tree didn't fruit for the first 17 years. It was planted in a very poor spot in clay excavated for his basement. I gave a relative a peach tree about 7 years ago. He planted it in the middle of a shady walnut patch with grass sod right up next to the trunk. It's a self-fruitful variety but hasn't borne a single peach yet.

I thought I'd respond to your interest in some of the Honey line of nectarines. At DWN they grow more than 1100 different types of fruit trees each year and offering every product to every market is a great way to confuse people and dilute their ability to get the right fruit to the right markets. You are right, Honey Blaze is an excellent nectarine, one of the most widely planted nectarines in the world in terms of acreage. However, it needs a lot of heat to generate its true potential as such it has a limited geographic appeal as a home garden or wholesale variety. Honey Kist, which ripens roughly the same time, has more predictable flavor and a wider geographic adaptation which is one of the reasons it is available in their retail division. Honey May, is only suitable for very low chill locations. Honey Diva is a pretty late variety which will harvest in the mid to late September range unless you are in the southwestern states. Again, that limits who can grow it successfully. I'm confident that Dave Wilson has no less than a dozen sub-acid nectarines that are in Honey Blaze's time slot for maturity but every fruit has it's own limitations. There is no universal fruit for all locations, for all palattes or for the range in grower ability. Likewise, it would be impractical to offer all twelve selections at your local or mail order nursery. The staff of your local retailer would go crazy trying to understand the nuances of each variety. I'm sure that dividing the market amongst the dozen in the example will drive up the costs as well. But I agree, and submit that all of the Honies are great nectarines.

I disagree about the home depot trees. I've found they stock fruit trees that do very well in the local climates with some exceptions. As an example, ours carries bing cherries which I don't get near enough chill hours to reliable harvest. The folks that live a half hour away in the mountains do though. Harvest time equals time in the ground from what I have seen. Give your tree another few years and you should see some fruit. I have a third year in the ground fruit cocktail tree. I have one peach, 12 apricots, and some plums on it now. All the first time fruiting for me. No nectarines yet.
