Need info on growing grapes
Comments (3)I don't know anything about muscadine grapes, and I'm a new grape grower myself, but several people have told me you are unlikely to get fruit from (regular grape) vines grown in containers, unless the containers are very deep -- absolute minimum 16" tall. If you decide to put them in the ground, choose the spot carefully so you don't have to move them again -- they don't transplant well once they are mature. Your signature says zone 9 but not your location -- if you're in the humid Southeast you may have fungal disease problems with the Concord. (I dunno about the muscadines.) Good luck! Link below is to a good book on grapes on Amazon, but I'm not sure if it has anything about muscadines. Comments (15)Personally, I don't like the looks of either, and at the least it would take 2-3 years to "heal", but could fail some time down the line. Which would mean replacement then, the responsible party may then claim no responsibility, and your delay in having a new plant established to do what you wanted in the first place. In addition, in the second pic there appears to be very small buds growing from just at ground level, if so, I take that as a bad sign the the tree is basically in panic mode and believes it is dying. Lastly, I see no sign of callus forming in either pic (maybe I'm missing it). In short I would try for replacement of them all. The responsible party can go to a tree farm and buy HEALTHY replacements there, assuming they actually have a business license. Again, you can bet yours aren't the only one's in this condition, and the responsible party needs motivation to do their job correctly. Comments (3)Swithcing from oil to gas, especially when the gas line is already in the house, is an very easy decision. You will easily cut your heating bills in half. I recommend you have the plumber install a separate gas hot water. The hot water heater can be sized to your needs. Usually 40-50 gallons is adequate for most families. This is also a more efficient to heat hot water resulting in additional savings....See Moreneed to replace a Kohler 18 hp ohc Triad on my grasshopper 618 advice?
