odd little 'Fairy' tree

I'm always on the lookout at GW for things to put in my Fairy garden or my gnome garden. But when I saw this purple Fairy tree (what else could it be???)I was very surprised. The flash glared and makes it look different colors, but its all lgt purple like on the bottom left part of it. I kept trying to figure out what the person had made it of when it hit me....duct tape!!! Spray painted.

I'm not sure if the form was an actual dead tree branch or if they fashioned it some way from wire maybe. Whatever it is, the person apparently wrapped the heck out of it with duct tape. I'd sure never have thought of using it, or painting it. Never ceases to amaze me the creative ideas some folks come up with up. (especially here on GJ)

What a cool little tree..."I can fix anything...where's the duct tape?"...Gotta love that GW..I hit ours every Monday morning, and am amazed @ the cool stuff that comes through there. The prices are great, plus the turnover is fast...unlike some other local thrifts where you see the same tired stuff week after week! Does yours have the 30 day tag discount? At ours, all the tags have a date, and if the date is past 30 days, you get the "treasure" for 1/2 price. Most of the stuff I search for doesn't seem to last that long..only got the 1/2 off twice on some vintage fabric & a Chinese Checkers game...I have a collection of those for some reason :o)...just in case I loose my marbles??! That tree is just delightful, Karen! I can't imagine making that out of duct tape. What a great find!

Elaine - the ones around me have a certain colored tag 50% off every week. One store does dated tags on the "stuff" (not clothes). When things are on the floor for 2 weeks, they will come down 50% if you ask. I once got a room-sized braided rug that way. I was counting the days and was in their on the 15th day! But the good stuff usually doesn't last that long.

That is Macie who we lovingly call Macie-Moo. She is a Shih Tzu but she does look a lot like a Tibetan Terrier. Tibetians get up to 25 pounds. Moo weighs in at 10. She was up to almost 12 after spending a week at my moms while I was out of town. Mom couldn't resist that little begging face....and Macie came back looking like a stuffed sausage!! She doesnt mind posing for pictures. Here she is with her 'summer cut' smiling for the camera from her favorite place in the yard....the pond's edge. By the way...couldn't you over-winter a Fairy standard (in a pot) in your garage? Might be worth a try!

Thanks Stacie and MKRuby :) I have everyone's questionaires that has posted. A few more days left any other little ones would like to play. I get to go to my daughter's school today for her class's Easter Party ~ I love EASTER and have been going to class party's for 22 years now!! I started in high school with my nephews'. Each year I try to bring baby animals of some kind for the kids to learn about - bunny's, chicks, kitty's, puppys... This year I am taking a Nigirian Dwarf Goat. 'Scooby' is a month old and one of 4 kids - he weights 2 pounds and is only 8" tall. Just WAY to cute! Have a great day everyone! Marie

What's wrong with my tree? Limbs all sagging,dying. Found odd holes.

Torturing my tree with bungee cords? For reals? I admit, it's not an ideal situation, but my hubby is out of town for a few days and it was all I could think of to do. And it wasn't even the limbs falling on the berries that was my main concern. I was having coffee on the back deck when I noticed a squirrel trying to feed on the bird feeder. The limb was actually swaying under the weight of the squirrel! There's something wrong with that picture and there is something definitely wrong with this tree. Yes, we are in a drought here in California. However, we live up in the Sierra Foothills, where water restrictions are strict but not as severe as in the valley. The trees are on an automatic watering drip system. The dirt you see behind the trees was just placed there last week by the neighbors crewmen who are having a pool put in. Seems shameful to put in a pool in these desperate times, but it was nice to have our hillside leveled out. But I will definitely remove the bungee cords. Honestly, I guess it's hard to tell with pictures, but this tree is sick and it continues to look worse by the day. I am calling a tree doctor today to see what if anything can be done to save my tree.

Love the tree! As Miss Susie might say "Whoooeeee, ain't that just something else." I sure will be glad when she gets back. I'm sure she would be very impressed with your find. I know that I am. (and a little green, too)

Elaine - "Where's the duct tape?" sounds like the Garden Junkers "Where's the Milk?". Now, don't you worry about losing your marbles. You can just blame it on the OW - "she stole them" (she would do that, too).
