I have been laughing and laughing... and even laughing some more....

There is a posing on the "kitchen table form"

and it says...

There is an old woman in my house....

I'm telling you I thought I had written the W H O LE thing!

It is me... to a "T"

if you can look at it...

I'm serious... it should be "Published"

it might put those "writers on strike.." out of work for good!

I have been reading and reading...and can never get caught up. Just when I think I'm done...someone posts something else. Honestly...it is the absolute funniest thing I've ever read!! I almost peed my pants at one of the posts.

I kept laughing so hard, DH wanted me to read it to him...and then he was laughing hard too. We loved it!

I want to get in on it! It is definitely something I can relate to.

Check it out...but go to the bathroom first!!

I know why she is sleeping!! She is worn out from tagging along with me at the Affair of the Heart show in Tulsa this week-end! She made me shop till I dropped! And she bought stuff so big that one guy had to carry it out for us, that crazy woman!! I know I didn't need all of those birdhouses, but when I turned around, there was this nice lady behind the counter handing me the receipt to sign!!! That OW had used my Credit card!! And to top it all off, she made me get lost in Tulsa before the show looking for the right address to pick up an old sink that I found on CL. And I have a GPS!!!! Go figure!! My best friends mom was ROTFL saying, only one I know that could still get lost with a GPS has to be a Blondie!! But I know the truth, the OW was bumping my arm making me take the wrong road!!! So, let the old hag sleep, maybe shes had enough of Okie-homa!!!(will post pics of birdhouses later if she hasn't hid my camera, too!!) blessings-sherri

While Hubs (ya'll remember Hubs wont let me call him DH because that means something else at our house.) was installing a music speaker system in the attic of the house December 2007. The old man caused Hubs to fall through the ceiling in the foyer area, coving our beautiful Christmas tree, dinning table (fully set for guests), and grown son (dressed in black sweater and slacks) with fluffy loose insulation.(This was 45 minutes before guests were coming to dinner.) Hubs insisted that the old man was responsible and should do the repairs. However he did manage to vaccumn the Christmas tree, and to staple black plastic garbage bags to the ceiling before dinner guests arrived, Lovely!!! Six months later since the old man couldn't be pinned down, Hubs put back up the busted sheet rock puzzle pieces with 2 dozen screws, again lovely!!! Here we are December 2008 almost, and the old man keeps forgetting to finish the sheetrock repair. I hate to get ugly about it and fuss. The next best thing was to invite Hubs' family over for Christmas this year. This incentive better work. Otherwise that old women that moved in here (who has much less tact, has Peri-Mental-Paws, and could tick-off the Pope) will showcase said ceiling story detail, after detail, after detail. Then she will point at Hubs and he will be giggled at and blamed for all of the trouble the old man caused him this year.

I've seen that old crone at my house too. At first I assumed she was a visitor and was just overstaying her time with me like it was in my young days when there always seemed to be a relative or friend or someone extra living in our house. But I have no room here for anyone else, so hope she'll be moving on. Her eyebrows are turning stringy because if she spots an alien white brow it is death by tweezers immediately. She also complains about not finding a good hair dresser in this area, so is letting her hair grow long to wear in a French Twist even though her shoulders hurt like the devil when she has to reach behind her neck like that. The growing out period looks scraggly and is hot on the back of her neck, but she ignored me when I mentioned that. Hardheaded type. She's worn a path between my bed and the bathroom because of a diuretic she has to take for her cute puffy ankles. Her very active IBS is another gross and constantly embarrassing story, and has a way of running her life and causing the extra expense of keeping abundant toilet tissue on hand. She is searching the area for a farrier blacksmith type who would be abler to hack her iron toenails to an acceptable length. She is unable to cut them herself as the process of bending over to reach her feet simply releases the act of "shooting bunnies" to the nth degree. In that area, I try to keep away from her at the food market because she calmly and consistently "shoots bunnies" up and down the aisles, and then pretends to be completely unaware and certainly not responsible. No apologies made. In all fairness I must say the ole' bag has a wonderful sense of humor and can laugh easily at herself as well as at me. She still enjoys looking at men - younger, of course, - drooling a bit - and enjoys thinking how nice it would be to have just some nice, dry smooching once more. Is that a crime? If so, she really doesn't give a damn.

It was NOPSI when I lived in New Oreleans, and in rental shotgun houses...NOPSI claimed a large part of my paychecks! New Orleans has a lot of Energy Raters, the highest concentration in the state actually. Entergy has made use of some of these raters in their efficiency program Energy Smart. here are a couple of links for you to check out: http://www.energysmartnola.info/one-stop-shop/ http://www.energysmartnola.info/for-your-home/ not being in that area anymore, I don't know how this program works..but you can find out if you are interested. my only advice would be to involve yourself with an experienced rater there in N.O. someone with experience in old homes...the newer raters I met may have the training... but couldn't tell gas from electric heat systems, or know how to identify balloon framing. so look for someone who has 10+ years of experience. La. DNR also has list of energy raters state wide, their efficiency incentive program isn't still in effect...but last time I checked the list of active raters was still online. DNR(dept natural resources) provided the training for all of us back in 1999. so they have a good handle on who knows their stuff...and who doesn't. it is hard to see detail in your posted plans. so I'll keep my questions fairly general. my first two concerns are air sealing & hvac system. I know you have a partial ' basement' (LOL) are electrical & plumbing exposed? was there ever a central hvac system installed? if basement isn't full size of house...what access is there to the part of the house without basement? how much room is there between ground & house? 3'...4'....more? is house all electric or is natural gas provided? as to heating...do you have a prefrence? if all electric..then look research heat pumps...great wintertime savings in our area. (I'm south central La these days) have you looked at mini split units? condenser unit outside, individual air handler units that hang on walls in rooms. I can't tell if your layout would work for this or not. is there a space in your home you could make into heating system closet? have you had any hvac companies come out to look at the house yet? involving hvac company never starts too early. it may be that ductwork will need to be installed during the reno. if you can't give up the sq ft for system inside house...I've seen people put the heating system in the 'basement'. quite a few flooded after katrina, but its not an everyday occurrence, and depending upon what part of town your house is located in...flooding is something to consider. I know uptown floods in a hearbeat with heavy rains...but areas like bywater stay dry. the top floor...full attic or are there walls of the living space that are shared with attic space? is attic space large enough to house heating system? air sealing.. there are really two ways to air seal. caulk, backer rods & more caulk which can be diy..or foam insulation. one is inexpensive & time consuming...the other expensive & fast. foam insulating the roofline will be biggest bang for the buck. then putting heat system & ductwork in attic keeps it in a semi conditioned space, so that you don't have ducts to cool the house in a 140 degree attic. by moving air & thermal barriers to roofline, a lot of the air leakage sites in ceilings are depressurized, so that house isn't sucking hot dirty humid attic air into the house to clean, dehumidify & condition when central unit is running. as most of our heat gain/cooling loss is through the ceiling into the attic space creating a tight air barrier, and thermal barrier (insulation) is very important. we use open cell in the attic roofline, depth to equal R-value required ( R-25 for cathedral for example is 6- 6.5" deep) also if house is balloon framed, foam seal at eaves to attic floor will stop air movement in walls. we need to air seal our walls...but insulating walls here isn't high on our list of things to do. foam in walls...is a huge waste of money. the next place for foam is under the floors. here we use closed cell. to keep moisture from ground from being sucked into the house. 2-3" is sufficient. this will also seal bottom of balloon framed walls. I've had issue with some of the foam insulators in N.O., because I am one picky b!tch. unlike most energy raters I oversee install of foam and test for air leakage with foam co on site, so that they can catch any leakage sites then without an added trip. as these companies expand into my area...they don't stay long. over the years I've learned which companies will actually create air tight seals...and who doesn't. and fyi...it isn't always the big companies that do it right. owner/installer companies are more willing to learn how to do it right. and the install of foam, just like the install of the hvac system is the key to the whole thing. ok...there are your questions to answer & things to think about for today. I'll check back after you reply. and think about investing in a blower door test of the house at minimum. this will identify leakage sites that need to be sealed. if you have ductwork, spring for the duct test also. better to know what you have to start with..what you need to do... and have it tested when completed. this way you have a goal to work towards...and an idea of how to do it. best of luck

Oh my gosh, every single post is hilarious!! Susie, yours is funny too! I think the old woman's slightly younger sister is breaking into MY house! She's not as bad as the old bag, but she's getting there! She's left a pair of reading glasses in every room in the house, and she's thrown out all my pairs of flip flops. Says they kill her feet! The nerve!

well..... that poor little ole woman has ticked my DH off...
Yes... remember my DH's garage... well she put all the Garden Junk in there and took up the space... in the Garage... and now the WHITE STUFF is falling from the sky... and then again tonight.... the frozen water stuff... it's clear... in the house the Fridge makes ice... outside... in the air... the Frozen water falls down on DH's car's and he has to scrape them......
that old woman is a trouble maker... she has ticked DH off AGAIN....She's got no money for buying her way out of this one.....

Golly gee, watching my GD growing up is a real trip for me...
I was sooooooo close to my mother's mother... and I have not seen them for 35 years..( They passed away ~).... but as I am watching the GD.... and knowing I am the Grammie.... I am reminded of my past and the Wonderful moment and I am HAPPY !

OMG! Thanks for sharing Susiesunshine! lol! That ol' biddy is hanging out at my house too. She got rid of all my socks and cute shoes and replaced them with men's diabetic socks and "sensible" shoes (spells U-G-L-Y). She uses my female sanitary products for small diapers just in case she can't get her crippled @ss to the bathroom fast enough in the middle of the night. I can hear her bones popping when she stands up from across the room ... good grief, sometimes I think a gun went off! And yes, she has replaced my pretty panties with huge cotton ones but at least they are not all white. I guess I should be thankful for small favors. If that isn't bad enough, she seems to have a stinky duck for a pet! The damn little thing quacks all day and smells up the house! Does anyone know of a good exterminator?

I am so glad I am not the only one putting up with that very annoying old woman!
