Wow what a fantastic idea! It is surely one she will treasure the rest of her life. Idid my son a graduation poster. As I was looking for old photos I noticed red cars So It started with pictures of him at about 2 holding a red matchbox car,then a picture of him on a 25 cent red car ride in the mall, a few red car rides at theme parks and then he and his best bud at 16 in front of his first car RED! At the top of the Poster it said
When I grow up I want to drive,,,,,,
A RED CAR!

I told DH I would someday like to do another picture to go with these two...of Torey on her wedding day sitting at her great great grandmother's dressing table. All four of my daughters were photographed sitting at it on their wedding days.

What a great present! Any teenager loves seeing pictures of themselves when they were little, and sharing them with friends. It can be quite a hoot! Goldenpond, I love what you did for your son! I'm sure that's something he will keep forever, and share with his children!

Thanks everyone! I love doing things like this. I make birthday cards for all the kids using pictures from their past. They really get a kick out of them.

I can hardly wait for Torey to see the pictures. She never knows what I'm going to spring on her next! Last Christmas she picked out some funky jeans, and she knew I got them to give her for Christmas. BUT...I wrapped a pair of MY new ones that still had the tags on them...waaaaay bigger than hers...and gave them to her! She was stunned when she opened them! I told her I took the other jeans back bacause I thought she'd really rather have some Levis like the ones I wear. The expression on her face was priceless!! Lord knows how I managed to keep a straight face!! LOL She pretty much had it figured out when I took this picture...right before I gave her the "real" jeans!

Words don't seem adequate to describe how truly wonderful these pictures are that a terrific Nana/Grandmother has made with such loving , extra special care and time for her granddaughter ! I can't seem to think of how to say how touched I am to be able to see these precious memories caught in time by a camera and then to know the extra care and thought that YOU have put into them by editing and framing and giving them as a gift to your daughter and granddaughter!

I think the whole idea is just E X T R A ~ SPECIAL !!!! and I know they will both Treasure these for an extra long time to come. I can even imagine your granddaughters daughter looking at these... and even especially then one with the dressing table ( that will be with a family heirloom ) for her wedding....
OH SANDY>>>>> you are such a Creative, Wonderful , Thoughtful person , mother, wife and Grandmother....
I feel so honored to get to know you....and to get to share some of these Ideas for " Treasured Family Moments" !!!

can't be bought with any amount of $$$ Money... and that kids treasure that with their Grandmother/NANA....
I was so very close to my Grandmother.... Many a time the moments and fun we share ... and the things that she taught me.... are the very "THINGS" that get me through the tough times... and even though she has been in Heaven for a long time.... I always feel close to her and Treasure Each thing she taught me...and all the "TOGETHER" things we shared !!
Just wanted to tell you this !!

Oh...Susiesunshine...thank you so much! You are so kind.

I love doing creative and funny things for my grandkids. My brother and I were raised by our paternal grandparents. Our mother died when I was 3 1/2 and my brother was 2. My dad had some serious health problems and could not care for us himself. Our grandmother was a crack!! She was so much fun. She was also very religious...closer to God than any person I've ever known. She was a very strong woman...overcoming her own health issues and other problems. We could not have been raised by a better person!

I remember my grandmother for so many things. She was a fantastic cook and taught me how. (One of her many sisters was the chef for President Grover Cleveland's son and taught Nana lots of things that she went on to teach me.) I love to cook and bake and am my happiest in the kitchen. Strangely enough...I have four daughters who have no interest in cooking...beyond providing their families with enough healthy food to keep them alive! LOL When they do need a recipe...they call Mom. I have extensive recipe files on CDs and over 90 cookbooks.

Anyway...getting back to the subject at hand...I would love for my grandkids to remember me as being creative and fun. When my youngest granddaughter looks at me with her impish look and says, "Nana, you're silly!", it thrills me to death! And when I tell one of my grandkids I love them and they tell me they love me too...it just doesn't get any better than that!

Lately, because of an Oprah Show subject, I asked each one of my daughters...if they could spend another day with someone, who would it be? They all said Grandpa...my Dad. He was the best...and also very funny! When they chose Dad...it made me so happy! Maybe someday one of my grandchildren will chose me.

That is so sweet, Sandy! And she is so pretty and photogenic. I always regret that my family didn't take more pictures of me even if I was homely as heck! When people ask to see pictures of me as a kid, I really don't have any. Gifts like yours not only bring back special memories but also reflect how loved the photographed person is.

Goldenpond, I love your red car theme for your son's graduation! What an awesome gift for him to remember his youth and his family by!

Goldenpond, yes the stars light up. We have snowflake and star lights everywhere. Sort of like the Fourth of July with a Christmas theme!
