peace lily in trouble

I have 2 peace lillies that are almost a year old. One of them is fine but the other one has been in trouble for a while. Neither of them have put off flowers since I got them. The major problem is that one of them always has leaves that are brown tipped. Recently I cut off all of the brown leaves and some new ones started to sprout. But the other day I found some weird looking worms on the top of the soil. I immediately scooped them out and threw them away. Yesterday I had my husband help me to change soil and we found some orange/yellow little balls under the roots. I am wondering if these are normal or if they could be worm eggs of some kind. I recently learned that the pots are probably too big and I haven't let the water drain adaquetly but this doesn't explain why one is doing better than the other.

This plant is really special to me as I received it at my young son's funeral last July. Please someone help me to save this special plant.
