Cicadas

Actually I have a couple questions about our 17 yr locust. Is anyone else here seeing them? (this isn't one of the questions, lol)

We have millions flying around, lying on ground/trees.

I read, the cicada peels bark from small trees, then lays eggs inside until they drop to ground, hatch, then dig their way underground. (another 17 yrs)

My question is, if I take plants outside, especially citrus, hibs, gardenia trees, will the cicadas peel the bark?

Also, I was wondering if the shells have nutricional value..Ppl are actually eating these poor bugs..Yuck..On my neighbood paper, the front page displays a Cicada pizza..how gross is that?

Cicadas contain protein and minerals..so would shells benefit my plants? Thanks, Toni
