after 4 grandsons a granddaughter for Goldenpond!!!

As I mentioned in the Kitten Little Post my daughter in law and son(who is a Pastor)was going in for her sonogram today. She already has two boys and my daughter has two boys.I Love being a grandmother to all those boys and told my son so. He said THEY REALLY wanted a girl so DH and I prayed everyday for them to have a daughter. Today we found out it is!

Now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

should I tell my youngest son and his wife (who are childless) that we have also been praying for them to have twins???? Nahhhh.

Little Boys are wonderful, but little girls........oh are they easy to spoil rotten, and so much more fun to BUY for!!

Oh...Susiesunshine...thank you so much! You are so kind. I love doing creative and funny things for my grandkids. My brother and I were raised by our paternal grandparents. Our mother died when I was 3 1/2 and my brother was 2. My dad had some serious health problems and could not care for us himself. Our grandmother was a crack!! She was so much fun. She was also very religious...closer to God than any person I've ever known. She was a very strong woman...overcoming her own health issues and other problems. We could not have been raised by a better person! I remember my grandmother for so many things. She was a fantastic cook and taught me how. (One of her many sisters was the chef for President Grover Cleveland's son and taught Nana lots of things that she went on to teach me.) I love to cook and bake and am my happiest in the kitchen. Strangely enough...I have four daughters who have no interest in cooking...beyond providing their families with enough healthy food to keep them alive! LOL When they do need a recipe...they call Mom. I have extensive recipe files on CDs and over 90 cookbooks. Anyway...getting back to the subject at hand...I would love for my grandkids to remember me as being creative and fun. When my youngest granddaughter looks at me with her impish look and says, "Nana, you're silly!", it thrills me to death! And when I tell one of my grandkids I love them and they tell me they love me too...it just doesn't get any better than that! Lately, because of an Oprah Show subject, I asked each one of my daughters...if they could spend another day with someone, who would it be? They all said Grandpa...my Dad. He was the best...and also very funny! When they chose Dad...it made me so happy! Maybe someday one of my grandchildren will chose me. ~Sandy~

My mother used to display a 'groveling' type behaviour when dealing with my then very young daughter. I asked her not to do this. not to display outwardly her upsets - because it will make her look weak before my child. My mother would openly complain to me in front of my child, that the child wasn't obeying her or listening to her, etc.. That's a weakness. She should have been very clear to my child as to show who is the boss. Now some children are much more open and likeable. Be nice to them and they are nice to you. But some are just not that way. Those types of personality requires a firmer approach. Children can be very smart and take advantage when they see someone as weak. Sure enough that started happening. My daughter wasn't respecting my mother. --- You can avoid all that when you show strength and pay less attention toward the child's feelings. Of course that doesn't mean ignore the child. Set the rules firmly and do not show your upsets towards her. She has to earn your respect in order to be rewarded by your attention. Its probably a play hard to get way but in the end the child will respect you and love you more.

Thanks, Chisue! The dear little guy was here yesterday, looking as sweet and beautiful as ever. He'll be two weeks old tomorrow. He nurses well and goes through the usual amount of diapers, but the pediatrics office says he's not gaining enough weight to satisfy them. I hope they don't ask my DIL to give him formula. This is what happened with my first baby, and of course supplementing reduced my milk supply, so the breastfeeding didn't last long after that. Both my daughters were very low on the weight charts, resulting in frequent conflict with the pediatricians. Both girls grew up healthy and small--just like my stepdaughters, whose body types they shared. The weight charts don't seem to allow for much individuality, and when the doctor wrote Failure to Thrive on my healthy, active second daughter's chart, I was seriously angry. My son was high on the weight charts, so I didn't have any more battles with the doctors. Not about that, anyway. LOL

bpath, My GD plays with that doll and all her other ”stuffdies” all the time. I have had to repair several of her stuffed animal but not the Avery Lamb. It is in perfect condition. I’m pretty sure that the little pocket on the lamb is closed at the top. I won’t be able to check on that until after next week. My GD is definitely a cutie and she is precocious for sure. (Not that I am bragging 😊). I wish I could show her face but her Mom and Dad would not want that. I took up cake decorating 10 years ago when my first GD was born. I haven't taken any classes but as we all know the internet is full of instructions and ideas. I have started teaching my GD how to frost and do various piping techniques. They love making cakes for their mom and dad’s birthdays and other occassions. Maybe I should start a thread on homemade decorated cakes. ETA. I just noticed that I had commented 4 years ago on pocket on the Avery Lamb Doll. It is not open at the top.

WONDERFUL!!! I know what it's like to want a girl. Heavenly Father heard my prayers but said no. FIVE TIMES! (I really can't imagine my life any differently but sometimes......) I'm so happy that you'll be getting to buy some pink things. I have soooooo much fun picking out girly things for my friends' daughters.

They are all angels, little boys just have that way about them that is so irresistable, but those little darlin girls
are another story entirely. I know one thing, my DH, who is papa, well, I didnt know he was so flexible, you know, being WRAPPED AROUND THEIR LITTLE FINGER AND ALL!sheesh, it really is pathetic sometimes! When our Daisy was little, about a year old, we took her home and she was bawlin to go w/ her papa. When he got up to leave, she ran over and grabbed his leg and proceeded to stick her little feet inside his tennis shoe. When he looked down and saw that, well, we had to leave right away-first time I'd seen him cry!!yep, them lil girls, thy're sumpin else!!
