Dream about garden junk(ers)

Last night I had a really long and detailed dream about visiting garden junkers I've never met! :)

I was with Shysue and Kudzuqueen. We went to Toomuchglass's beach-side house because we were dying to see all her cool stuff. It was GORGEOUS - bright, spacious and modern. There were beautiful glass things everywhere, even glass tiles on the fireplace. Part of the house was built out over the water, and you could pull up a big glass tile in the floor of the living room and look down on the waves. I stuck my head in the hole and looked around at the pilings the house was on.

We checked out the yard, the garden was great (of course), and had some amazing large sculptures in it. I remember a huge shell, and a ... head? Like a terra cotta Grot I guess, at least 4 feet high. It was sunny and warm but with a nice breeze. Stepping out of the back yard you were right on the beach, it was a such a cool space.

Yes, I was reading this forum right before bed. Crazy, eh? :)

well...from that description, I want to come along too in that dream.
I just have nightmares of being swallowed whole by my Too Long to Do List aka the Blob. LOL

That is funny! Just goes to show how dedicated you are that you even dream about garden junk! But Toomuchglass' house sure sounds like it is far from junk.

Now I'd have a nightmare about garden junk chasing me as I run around naked in the garden in front of a crowd of people!

Kathy, Oh my, you are a brave woman! Please let me know how you did. I didn't have much 'junk' (aka treasures), but did bring everything in. We get such swings in temperatures here and I fear things might not look the same come the spring. Just last week we went from +11C down to -22C in 12 hours, and then back up to +3C the next day. That would amount to going from 50F to -5F for the first temperature swing! I do have some mosaic pieces which have held up for a couple of years. At this point I don't dare touch them for fear they will crumble into the smallest of pieces. :) Love the look of the totem!

To A girl named Max-That is so sweet and thoughtful of you! I am afraid that I am not going to be able to take you up on the offer though. We are beyond swamped right now and our first grandchild is threatening to come very early. We don't dare go far from home for the duration and we are all scrambling to prepare for all contingencies. Have you considered posting something on the GW Minnesota thread or perhaps a carefully worded post in your local Craigs list? Downsizing is tough on so many levels!

bringing this to the top....don't want to let it get away and miss the pictures... Flag...I sure hope you find time to share your pictures again....I need some ideas desperately... If I have to give up my home and move...I'm going to need some good junking ideas to make me feel at home wherever my feet land. It has nothing to do with rich or poor, big house or small, professional or not. Just as IRL, people form bonds over their common interests and, of course, they will respond more to those they've known for years. Ditto ditto ditto. I'll add that yes, people are more apt to respond to photos. Decorating is a visual thing. I can offer almost NOTHING without seeing a photo. I also can't tell your style. I get really annoyed with the accusations of elitism and cliquishness. It's simply not true. Yes, there are people who've been here a long time. We've seen photos of each others' homes. We've seen various projects in the works, etc. Heck, I've never met AuntJen, but I "know" enough about her style from years spent on this board to see a Talavera Toilet and think immediately of her home. That's not cliquish, that's familiarity. I've never met Zipdee, but I know that when I see Jadeite green antique kitchen accessories, I think of her super cool retro kitchen immediately. Because she's in the "inner sanctum"? No! Of course not. It's because she routinely shares her progress with us, lets us peek at her photos, contributes frequently, etc. Lack of response on threads happens to everyone. It will happen more if the question is too vague. It will happen more if people can't see photos. It will happen more if we don't "know" your style. Hang around. Join in other conversations. Let us "see" your style, so that when you post a link to a dresser you're thinking about buying, we'll know if it would work with your house. Again, this is NOT cliquishness, this is familiarity. As far as the blogs, I don't see the big deal. People blog all the time about these things, and so what if FrenchDressing linked to hers? I honestly don't see what the uproar is all about.

hehe, I even take road trips in dreams :) even if it IS other peoples dreams! I just made a trip to Jackson from the Coast a few weeks ago,and we PASSED (DH would NOT stop, the big fat poop)so many flea markets and cool looking garden places that I was about to scream!! I saw all kinds of iron and glass and plants and antiques go whizzing past the passenger window...I swear he sped up every time I said "awwww" and I know he rolled his eyes when I said " a chain saw bear sculpture!", I didn't even get to take photos :P

oh gosh Luna, you had me in stitches.
And Kudzu, you tell your DH he has to be nice to you on your dream road trips. He must stop everywhere and help you load everything, and never roll his eyes. He should just smile and say "yes Dear". LOL

That's a way cool dream Amy. I don't travel in real life, so that would be so cool to dream that I did. I must confess, I have fallen asleep pondering about garden junk! I redecorate my garden in my head and if I don't like it, I erase it and start all over while never lifting a finger, LOL!

I have only one friend whose garden we exchange tour, at least to admire the junk. I'm lucky that my dh likes to tour gardens when we travel.

I met two of my dearest buddies off this forum, and we all live a 1/2hr drive from each other...THAT"S A DREAM COME TRUE!!! We shop for garden junk together, talk garden junk, Live garden junk!!! I'm Blessed!!!!

Lara, I like your idea of doing the garden in your dreams. That kind of work my back would appreciate it. LOL.
