Do You Buy Things You Can Not Use?

Every year it is the same thing with me, seeds. I have grand dreams of growing pumpkins so that I do not have to pay $15. each next fall. This year I also bought bushel basket sized, gourd seeds. Sounds cool to harvest gourds and make large planters out of them, or make a giant bird house, right? Yes, until you see that my little plot of God's green earth here in TX is the size of a couple of bowling alleys and a dog pin. Can you imagine how much room it takes to plant gourds and pumpkins? A LOT! But for whatever reason I do it every year. I did manage to grow 4 gourds in a very large pot last year. 120 days of constant care, feeding, fighting bugs, and all I got were 4 assorted sized gourds. Sad. What's your impracticle passion?
