Susie just plant a few hills of them. If you are only wanting them for yourself...It's not impracticle at all... That's more then enough room...

Ms nona- Your gourds are spectacular! I see you are in the tropical land of FL. I did grow some when I was further South in Houston. Do you have to amend your soil with something special? I might go over to the side yard and find a spot for a mound or two. I was worried about them getting enough Sunshine. susie

I buy too much stuff at yard sales and TS. It was awful when I managed a TS when I was young. Sometimes things wouldn't sell although we had lots of customers of all types and I couldn't bear to throw them out! Somewhere I have a few of the oddest little dolls that someone hand made. We got a whole box full (several dozen) and no one wanted any but me. I still think about them and feel sad about the ones I didn't buy and its 30 years later. But the fact is they would probably be rotting in my basement, lol. Objects represent sentiments and history to me and I have to be careful! Thank goodness for TSs cuz I can get rid of things quick before I change my mind and be happy thinking that someone else will use them!
If I ever find where I put those dolls I'll have to keep them. They were odd shapes in a nice quality white cotton, some just rectangles, with the most curious and expressive faces handpainted onto them

Well, sort of semi tropical!! I am in the Florida panhandle. We had quite a few nights this year in the 20's
About 15 miles north of me-still in Florida- it got down to 10 a couple of times....That makes my old bones ache-LOL

I tend not to amend or fertilize--that would really make my weeds flourish!
I can't leave my gourd in the gardenover the winter like thy suggest either, the mice eat them! In fact, the ones I had in the storage building got infested this year and most of them are GONE! Dad-blamed mice!
I hope I have enough seeds to throw out there this year!

I'm not sure I buy a lot of things I "can't" use...it's more a matter of getting to the project I had in mind when I bought it. Although I must admit I always buy too many flower seeds and either run out of time or steam to get them all in the ground early enough. My aunt tells me all the time that this hoarding is a sickness, but she means it in the best way because she and my mother passed the gene on to me!

I think it would be easier to say what I buy that I really do need! lol! Sitting at my computer, I see a brass quail, McCoy pottery frog, a tiny pink rooster, a jade elephant, a rock painted to look like a cat, a seashell and assorted cats, birds and birdhouses including a wooden cat from Bali with wings, "cat tails" - wooden cat tails painted to look like cats, carved wooden birds and a strange toucan made of pottery. And that's just on my computer cabinet! Oh I forgot the toy Pterydactl and sock bunny. I always joke that instead of shopping at thrift stores, I should just open my own.

Susie, what great idea to have a Christmas tree of these dolls. Unfortunately I only have 3. That was back in my more nomadic days before I was married and had a house. The rest went to the dump. Different sensibilities back then in the 80s. I think now at least some people (in addition to me) would love them. Even young men make those little monster dolls now.

Oh yea I buy things all the time that I have no use for. Then I stash it some where thinking some day it will come in handy. And when that day arrives I have to search the whole house, the garage, and my potting shed to find it. And some times I run across things I forgot that I bought. LOL I am terrible about this. Pretty soon we will be over run here with all my junk. LOL

Oh yeah, I always buy more seeds than I can plant. They will keep in a sealed container in the freezer for years.

My basement is full of cool finds that I intend to use in future projects. When something hangs around long enough without being used, I usually end up putting it in a garage sale.

Because of these great things I am always dragging in, there's always clutter somewhere, usually the basement. That's where Martha could come in real handy, Susiesunshine. Martha's so dang good with organizing, wish she'd drop by my place for a while lol ~tenderlee
