In need of hugs

Our best friends' son-in-law (age 42 with 3 young children) died suddenly last night. We were all close, are devastated and are having a really rough day here.

To get through the day, the only thing that's helped me smile at all is going through all the new posts on the other side today. I count you all among my friends now, and am grateful especially today for your unending warmth and cheerfulness.

Just how offended should I be, about now? I might need to go sulk for a while! If I was buying two hundred dollar orchids, I certainly wouldn't makin' my clothes outta an old table cloth... I know that, at least, one is in spike, but I haven't done a head count to make sure. I haven't comfirmed my new order yet, so I'm not sure what all I'll end up with!;~) I am eyeballin' 4 or 5 new ones. Currently, I have these! YIPPEEE!!! We got a letter from our boy! It's hard to read without crying, but overall he's doing ok. He's safe, has gained a reputation as being an artist, and his drawings are in demand. People are decent to him, no one has threatened him or tried to hurt him. He is bored out of his mind and missing his family desperately. He's currently at an intake facility, where they decide where he'll be sent to finish out his sentence. IF he has to do the whole 13 months, it'll likely be in a minimum security and even possibly at a place where he can go work offsite. The boredom is killing him, gives him too much time think about missing everyone. There is more to share, nothing really new to update, just a lot of great support from people. I'm exhausted, emotionally and physically, but at least now I've heard from my boy again, and can read that letter over and over at my leisure. But for now, I'm off to make dinner....his girlfriend and my eldest DD are coming soon, so I need to feed everyone. Just thought I'd update you all.

Thank you all for the hugs, prayers and good thoughts. It means alot to know that you are all rooting for us. The last year has been so draining. Between DH's health, a business we should have closed (but we're too stubborn to give up) and we moved our business in May with the help of our customers. Facing foreclosure has been a frightening experience. Thank heaven one of customers is a Realtor and has experience with short sales. He priced the house to sell, but he didn't expect the mortgage co. to act so quickly! WHAT! We have to be out by the 29th to close on the 30th. I've always been the one to lend a helping hand to family and friends. The family (cousins) all lives in New England so relying on friends is getting to me. I'm tired of feeling so needy and asking for favors. My FL Gardening friends have offered help to foster my plants and take care of packing up the tools. One of our customers has volunteered to round up help move the furniture. They say a journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. I think we'll be fine as soon as we figure out where we are going to move to. April thank you so much for the offer of help. I can't find your phone number. Could you email me through GW.

Oh, what words of wisdom! It may not be the wisest, but I am drawn to the one about hugs. One can never get too many of them. There was a touching piece on the news, last night, about people in Syria (I think), hugging each other-- complete strangers--but showing their 'common' humanity to each other.

What terrible news. Sending you prayers and hugs from the heart too. I can't even imagine how difficult this must be on all who loved him.

Daisy, I have so had you and yours in my thoughts and prayers since I first read this post. How are your friends doing? After my parents passed away, the days after the funerals were the roughest...everyone just went away... I pray your friends are surrounded by loving friends and family during this difficult time and in the future. Thank you for your loving, caring heart. Hugs! Kirk

Mimi and all of you others who have been so wonderful to respond...Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It's hard for us to believe that it's been two weeks tomorrow since this happened. The family have been sustained by an incredible group of friends and faithbased support. They have been surrounded by incredible strength and love and are working their way through these first weeks with that foundation. And me...not family, but feeling so dearly.....I am helped more than you can know by your thoughtful notes of support and prayer through this very hard time. It is impossible to tell you how much these notes from you have meant.

I'll be sending up some prayers as well for your friends family---and you too. I'm sure that being that close it's just as hard as it is if it were your own immediate family. It's hard so much more since his children are so young. I hope your friends' daughter gets all the love and support she will need to help get though and to raise those children.
