Look who came to visit!

JT made the trip safe and sound. She isn't liking Michigan so far. She is so cold that she won't go outside to play. Maybe she would like it better here in the summer. We are going to have a little fun for a day or two and then I will put her back on the Junk Train and send he to the next station...I hope it is warmer there. I think she is starting to turn blue.

Yes, for those of us who entertain ourselves with nature, Fall is a bit depressing, but I'm so tired from hauling in leaves for my many cats, I think I'll enjoy the rest! :) Right after I posted the above post, I went out to the meadow and got some sweetgum leaves from a young tree where the meadow meets the woods. There are buckeye cats EVERYWHERE out there, nearly every Agalinis plant has one on it. I also saw a buckeye laying an egg on one of the few vacant plants. I got her picture, but it was too blurry to post. I also saw the cutest little male checkered skipper and little yellow. I love the big butterflies, but the little ones are charming! Sherry

I agree with Renee about the sun--I have very limited room and one of my beds only gets half day of sun--it does matter, unfortunately. My bloom is not as good back there. I'd also add that good drainage is essential. Standing water or poorly drained soil can lead to rot. Congrats on your surprise package! Mike

Sweet, indeed. How lucky you are to have them sharing your lovely surroundings. I think I would spend a lot of time watching out for them and their daily activities. Do they bother your plants? LOL, Marilyn! I used to feel the same way. Then I had to kill a rattler one day because there was no one else to do it. Since then I've manage to decapitate one or two every summer. But now that I have kitties that go outside the rattlers rarely come around. Still, they get a bit bolder this time of year because water becomes so scarce so I'm always alert to them. I've had too many close calls. I keep the flat head shovel sharpened and nearby. ; ) Diana

We are having fun....tonight we paired something from the Junk Train with something that I got from my SS and made something new...After the adhesive dries we will take pics and post them. JT also spent some time in my glass studio with me tonight. I think she is starting to get used to the cold and is loving the snow....We will make sure to get some pics this weekend before she gets back on her way next week. ~Micki~

No peek at what was inside the caboose? he-he I don't know where nmgirl found her but JT sure is cute! I can't wait to see some of her future adventures!

That's Uniqua, one of DGK's favorite characters on the Backyardigans. She'll love exploring the countryside. It would be fun to see a photo of her at every stop with something unique to the area, like snow, forest, farm, lake, maybe even a train, etc.! She's a great mascot and many GKs would love to see photos of her traveling outside of her own backyard. Linda

I'm glad someone knows who JT is. I figured she's a character from a TV show or a movie but I had no idea. Thanks for the info.
I found her at a thrift store, (it's my car's fault!), looking forlornly out of a pile of discarded stuffed animals and Barbies. I had to rescue her.
Uniqua? How appropriate for our mascot.

I seen her to on TV for the first time the other day. I hollered "look mom theres the junk train mascot"...
