Yet another 'Can you ID this plant?'

I had this plant given to me a few years ago. I always thought it was cute, but kind of boring... I like the plants that grow rapidly, but kept it going. Well, this one's getting a little more interesting, it's had a baby! Now, I'm just wondering what the name of it is & what I obviously did right to make it produce a baby. I did repot it last fall & every since then it's been growing faster, so apparently, I did a good thing. I was going to repot it w/ new soil soon, but now I'm not sure if I should b/c of the baby... What do you all think? TIA for any replies! :)

It's a sans of some sort. I don't know which, though.

Sansevieria trifasciata 'Hahnii.'

My guess is that you probably don't need to repot.

My definition of weed is a plant that you don't want in any garden. Obviously that would vary widely among different people...I think this fleabane would deserve a spot in a wildflower garden or similar.

If you have a cut piece of stem, you can stick the bottom in the ground or you can just lay it on it's side, and either way, the stem will most likely (given the right conditions like enough light) grow new rosettes and roots. In nature they'll fall over being top-heavy, and whatever is in contact with some soil will root and the plant will keep going. This is a very easy plant in Southern California. As cactusmcharris points out, it could be in its summer dormancy yet, which would make the rosette more compact. It make loosen up and look different when it starts growing again.

Nothing wrong with your preference...And it is a good idea to keep new ones in quarantine to make sue they have no diseases & pests. Also agree with flowers making demands on plants, to some extent. I keep all succulents outdoors as soon as possible, and almost all in full sun. There are many (probably 300 pots), almost all side-by-side on benches, shelves. Maybe beneficials help, but don't remember flower stalks attracting bugs :)

Thank you mr_sub! I looked it up & "birds nest" or "dwarf snake plant" are the common names for it... Now I'll know what to tell ppl if they ask what it's called.

I will hold off on repotting it this spring. Possibly in the fall or may wait til next year.

Yes, it's some kind of Sans. hahnii (w/ which I do badly); you've done well by the plant.

These plants (Sans.) prefer to be tight in their pots, so many folks leave them in the same pots until the roots literally break out the bottom of the pot. If they're sensitive to anything, it's overwatering, you've found a good balance for your plant. Sounds like you should keep doing the same as you've been doing & this little pup (baby plantlet) will do well.
